Well I didn’t get much right handicapping this one but Apocalypse Rising got everything right, taking the American Stakes (GIII) at SA by a head in a blanket finish.  The final running time was a brisk 1:33 on the firm SoCal turf where the last place finisher was only three lengths back.  Spiral nosed out Through The World for the place with Big Aspirations three-quarter’s of a length back in fourth.

Apocalypse Rising is a bay 5yo gelded son of Apocazeus – Knowledgeable Lady, by Knowledge Geek, and she was bred in ON by her owner, Gdp Inc.  This was her eighth win from twenty-one starts and she now shows $411.680 in earnings.  Congratulations to the connections.

Apocalypse Rising mid-pack early, moved forward through the lane, up late, won driving.  Spiral tracked the early pace, took over into the lane, headed inside the final sixteenth, game.  Through The World broke alertly, set the pace to the top of the lane, evenly late.  Big Aspirations rated back after the break, some late interest.  Laces Out tracked the pace from the rail, no excuse.  Clever Me evenly, no threat.  Just Chillin was outrun.  Dogs Noah off a step slow, never involved.  Keg Size rated, asked, no response.
