The Adirondack – Grade II
SAR Race #6 6 1/2f Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $200.000 For Fillies Two Years Old.
Well if you thought it was tough to pick a winner in the older ranks racing then a look at this race will fill you with dread. Gone are the days when a horse working 59 seconds at this time of year was a superstar, now if you are not 58 and change then you may as well stay at home. So here they are and apart from the names and the owners a lot of them look very similar.
1 One Step West Tiratzo Garcia Alan
You cant get better than two from two and this daughter of Pinnacle West managed a 1.10 and 4 at the work track too so she must be a live chance in this tough field. The inside draw may be a challenge if she gets too deep in the field but she certainly has the ability if she gets some luck in running.
2 Miss Tallmadge Oquinn Farm Leparoux J R
Well this one may not be unbeaten but she took the My Dear last time by a very impressive two lengths after a similarly impressive maiden win. She gets the perfect draw and if she can get to the stalk on a fair pace she may be hard to beat.
3 Interpoint Night Rider Stables Maragh Ro
Took a maiden claimer on debut and was claimed by this trainer she went on to run a cracker in the My Dear staying on for second although she was easily held by Miss Tallmadge. A great draw and a trainer in form so she must rate a good chance.
4 Di Etti Gdp Inc Pennington F
Took a decent maiden last time looking like this trip will suit and like just about every runner has managed works that are good enough to win this. The draw will suit his midpack style but Pennington is not at his best in a dirt sprint so he may have to overcome that to win.
5 Cp Auspicious Pain Childs Play Bravo J
Just knocked off by Start My Willy in the Young Memorial Futurity her works are a tick off the best of these and that suggests she may struggle to get in the finish.
6 Thanks A Latte YME Stable Bejarano R
Gets the jockey of the moment and a good draw to work with i rather like this one to run well today. She was strong over this trip when running on the speed last time and the fact that she is a precocious 16.1 hh will certainly do her well in this big bustling field.
7 Shalakar Blushing Meadows Ortiz I Jr
An impressive maiden winner she was given little chance by the draw and the race engine in the Debutante last time but a recent 58 and 1 work suggests she is ready to do better today from a better draw.
8 Misty Blue Estero Farms Contreras L
Bought for $55 after an $85 maiden win which would seem a bargain but her works suggest that she may have a bit to find at this level. The draw makes it tough and although there are positives about her she may not be good enough today.
9 Never Forgotten D J C Racing Stables Gaffalione T
Ploughed through the mud to win her maiden she ran a cracker next up when just touched off in the Debutante over this trip. She looks a natural closer so she will need luck from this draw but her works suggest she is above average and she will be thundering home.
10 Pakistan Star John Henry Velazquez J R
This filly shares her name with a prolific real life winner and so far she has certainly lived up to that billing with a record of two from two. Bought for $150 after a strong win in the Mountain Top Futurity last time she is not a flashy worker but certainly looks to have plenty of heart. The draw makes it tough but trainer and jockey are in good form.
11 Daredevil Fractious Franco M
Has proven really consistent in her three runs deservedly winning her maiden last time after two consecutive second places. She won in the mud that day and that may have been the difference so i will want to see her run well on a better surface before i am convinced.
12 Bite The Bullet Mb Stables Carmouche K
Its not often the top trainer has just one runner in a top race and its not often that horse is drawn widest of all so Mb will need all his guile to coax a win out of this promising filly. If she can overcome the draw her works say she will be very close.
SUMMARY
Its virtually impossible to be confident about a choice in this race so i will go for three and hope that one of them can win. Thanks A Latte, Never Forgotten and Bite The Bullet with a little each way on Shalakar.
