We catch a nice group of sprinting females ready to go six and a half furlongs, here near Erie PA and we look at the field for The PID Masters Stakes (GII).  I’ll give the slight edge to Z Command in this one.  She looked really good taking the Personal Ensign (GI) last out and had three other graded wins this year.  Anything like that makes her tough.  I think you have to give the rail horse a big look as well because Mb is always tough and First Impression has very tough this season, never running worse than third in six seasonal starts.  You know she will be ready to give her best here.  I’ll go right next door and give Hawaiian Crusader a shot as well.  She won the Test (GI) for her first graded win and she looks like her best racing is in front of her.  It’s a heck of a field so grab a cold snack and let’s take this one in.

Here’s The Field –

1
   First Impression    Mb Stables    Hernandez R M   121   5/2

Hasn’t missed the board this year and was second in her last two starts, both graded races, just missing in the Great Lady M at LA and likewise last out in The Ballerina.  She’s just as consistent as you could want a horse to be and she looks ready to be a handful here as well.

2
   Hawaiian Crusader    Fractious    Davis D   119   3/1

Another that hasn’t missed a check… ever.  She looked goo winning the Test (GI) at SAR which brings her into this one with a huge head of steam.  Her only other win was a MSW at CD, but she certainly has shown she can run with any of them.  Give her a big look today.

3
Out And Bad    Night Rider Stables    Wilson E J   121   10/1

A pair of last place finishes has to make you wonder about her.  She has a win and a pair of runner-up starts this season, but she stopped bad last out and faces some of those same horses today.

4
On The Flop    Team 7 Illusions    Lezcano J   121   7/1

Has two wins this year but both were vs. NY-bred stakes horses and she has struggled when facing graded horses in the past.  She looks sharp right now, but she will need her best to get any part vs. this group.

5
   Threat Unknown    Mb Stables    Bridgmohan S X   119   5/1

Chucked an unusual dud in the Test (GI) last out when she only beat one horse.  Prior to that, she was as tough as nails showing three wins, a second and a third this season.  She had a graded win and a third before that last out fiasco so let’s throw that out and look for her to bounce back.

6
   Z Command    Smokey Stover    Velazquez J R   121   2/1

She had that one bad race at BEL but everything else was a trip to get her picture taken, four wins, all graded – three GI, and she looked sharp getting home first in the Personal Ensign (GI) last out.  She can sprint, she can go two turns, heck she can win from the parking lot… watch her.

7
You Just Have 2 Wait    Estero Farms    Espinoza V   121   9/1

Nice win in the Bernardo Hcp (GI) at DMR last out and she got home in quick time in that one.  She may be the most pure sprinter in this bunch and she can certainly get home quick once she gets wound up.  If they give her a pace to run at, and they should, she may be worth the price in an upset.

8
Stamford Bridge    Dynark Stables    Ortiz I Jr   121   12/1

Go Chelsea!  This one shows one win and a third this season, the win being a romp vs. LA-bred stakes horses.  She’s been fairly consistent vs. softer but tired late last out in the Seaway (GIII) and it’s not going to get any easier today.  Maybe a piece with her best stuff.

9
Sweet Catomine    John Henry    Van Dyke D   121   6/1

Only four starts this season for a filly with seven wins in seventeen starts, but only one of those this year.  She won the Las Flores (GIII) at SA back in the spring, and her best would do well here today, but is she ready to deliver from out here?
