Indian Chief Looking To Steal All American

All American GIII

1 Mile Dirt Stakes Purse $100.000 Three Year Olds & Up

2016 Champ: Mission To Tugela

Golden Gate’s feature race on the Memorial Day Monday afternoon card will be the GIII All American stake. It is a one mile dirt race that will feature six colts and geldings vying for the $100.000 in purse money. Let’s see who is most likely to take home that money.

1- Mugarooni (Mo Mentum Farm, ridden by Cedillo A)

This four year old Florida bred has struggled to start off his 2017 year with two straight very disappointing starts. He will need to get back on track if he wants any hope of bringing home a check for his owners on Memorial Day. The blinkers come off for the race which looks like it could be a positive switch after struggling in three straight starts with them on.

2- Skywatcher (Ringleader, ridden by Alvarado F T)

Skywatcher will take a try and graded stakes company for the first time in his eighteen start career. He has had just a solid season so far. The works concern me a bit as he seems a step slower then a lot of the others in this race but maybe he can find another gear when it counts.

3- Indian Chief (Scorpion Stables, ridden by Couton J)

The last few starts for this one have been impressive. The latest being a second place finish in the GIII Commonwealth stake at Keenland where he almost ran down winner Angelic General but lost by a neck that day. Before that was a great two length victory in an open allowance race at Santa Anita. Look for this one to put in another big effort, if he does I don’t know if anyone in this field can beat him.

4- Pip Saltfish (Chili King Stables, ridden by Amador S R)

This three year old gelding has been all over the map this year in terms of placement in races, everything from a GII to a $25.000 claimer. He has run some solid races but don’t see this one being able to pushing the top contenders for a check.

5- All Out Blitz (Mb Stables, ridden by Gonzalez Ru)

A derby hopeful in the spring was never able to put it together and make it to the big one on the first Saturday in May. A very similar horse to his stable mate All Memories makes it tough to choose which one comes out on top in this one but I am giving the edge to his stable mate this time but still a very real threat to taking home a nice little pay check.

6- All Memories (Mb Stables, ridden by Hernandez J J)

All Memories gets the hot jockey in this race as Hernandez J J has won this race the past two times. That combined with his last few outings makes this horse one you can’t look past. He was on the Derby trail for awhile but came up a little short on getting in. After a little break he is back and ready to try and get back to the winners circle. He may be the most talented horse in the field, just might lose out on the experience factor against Indian Chief.

My Selection: 3/6/5
