Inquisition Takes on Seven in Buffalo Trace

Buffalo Trace Franklin County – Grade 2 – $350.000

KEE – 5 ½ Furlongs – Turf

For Fillies and Mares Three Years Old and Upward

October 15, 2023

1 Antares (Smokey Stover)

Four-year-old filly with two wins to her credit this year, including a high-level allowance win in her last start. Her other 2023 win also came in allowance company, but she is graded stakes placed and could be a factor in this race.

2 Noble Game (Black N Gold Stable)

Won the Incredible Revenge Stakes two starts back. In fact, this six-year-old mare has won five of seven starts this year and has only finished off the board once in that time. Likes the view from the front but can come from off the pace.

3 Falling Cougar (Smokey Stover)

Solid allowance filly. Has not finished off the board this year. Her most current wins were at allowance level and include a nine-length romp back in March at GG. Always competitive and she should be in the mix in this one.

4 Ewa Beach (The American)

This seven-year-old mare shows no signs of slowing down. Never off the board in six starts this year, her credits include a win in the Giants Causeway back in April and three in-the-money finishes in graded company. Like her chances here.

5 Ponzi Scheme (TwinTowersRacing)

This mare has been trying longer distances lately with mixed results. Won the NY-bred Mount Vernon in May at a mile. Even so, she should like the shorter distance here.

6 Inquisition (Arindel)

Won the Grade 3 Caress in July and finished third in her two subsequent graded attempts, both at a distance. Another one who could profit from the shorter distance. Should have a say in the outcome.

7 Tropical Mama (Maxmillion Farm)

Finished second ahead of Inquisition in the KD Ladies Turf last out at a mile. Not sure how this one will take to the shorter distance. The shorter distance should be no problem for her, and she could be there at the wire.

8 Marner (Mb Stables)

This mare hasn’t performed as well as some of these in 2023 with no wins in seven starts. She did finish second by a nose in the License Fee in May, but she was dead last in the KD Ladies Sprint last out. Will need to step it up to compete here.
