Intagna Rose Has Winning Day in Mrs Revere

Mrs Revere (Grade 2)- $200.000 Purse
CD- For Fillies Three Years Old
One Mile and One Sixteenth on the Turf
November 14, 2020

Intagna Rose is a very interesting horse in that she either wins, or misses the board entirely. This can make her hard to support from a wagering standpoint, unless you really believe that she is due to uncork a big one. On Saturday at CD, she went off at odds of 42/1, so people did not really think that she was about to win back to back races. However, there was a point early in the year when she won three of four. At those odds then, I would have taken a shot at the track for real. Saturday would end up being a good day for this filly by Slither, as she captures the Mrs Revere for trainer D J C Racing Stables. This has been a good race for him, as he also won in 2013 with Toussaud, and in 2017 with Katori, making him the most successful trainer in the race. Aboard the winner Mar Garcia, and it is his first win. Congratulations to them! The race was run in a time of 1:39.98, a middle of the road winning time for the race overall. Let’s take a look!

(¼ Mile- :23.46)- Towards the outside, the overwhelming longshot from Greyfriars Stable, Trending El Gran, jumps out to the lead and crosses the finish line first on the opening lap, making a couple people in the stands wish the race was then over. By the time they reached the opening turn, her lead was about a length over Arindel’s Mrs Nussbaums Credit and Nakamura Stables’ Lovin Spoonful. Joan Of Arc, from Calia Stable, stalked the top three, and was two lengths back, while Goblin Judge (Wood Duck Stable) ran to her inside and Hallowed Halls (Rock Creek) was to her outside. Our eventual winner, Intagna Rose, ran next for D J C Racing Stables, positioned right behind Joan Of Arc, and was three and a half lengths off the lead. It’s about another length to the post time favorite, Anna D (Smokey Stover), who ran in the third lane. Sheza Kat (John Henry) trails, and is five lengths out.

(½ Mile- :47.06)- Moving around the opening turn, and entering the backstretch, the front three line up to be heads apart. Trending El Gran is slightly in front after half a mile, but Mrs Nussbaums Credit has been creeping closer and appears poised to take the lead fairly soon in the backstretch. Lovin Spoonful remained with them on the inside. Behind them, Joan Of Arc moved to the rail, and this allowed Intagna Rose to advance her position just enough to where she could now run side by side with her for the fourth position, two and a half lengths from the lead. Hallowed Halls was still there, and was part of this three way battle for fourth as well, running well on the outside. Goblin Judge and Anna D sat right behind them, likely just waiting for their time to strike. Sheza Kat ran five and a half lengths from the front.

(Top Of Stretch, 1.7F To Go)- Things got pretty interesting at the top of the final turn as Intagna Rose was not going to wait for things to settle out in front of her. Instead, she elected to come down pretty hard on Hallowed Halls, to go four wide in the turn. Hallowed Halls was courteous and obliged, but it also seemed to be a good move for her as well. Intagna Rose made up ground quickly, and by the top of the stretch, she had moved forward enough to be side by side with the leader, who was Mrs Nussbaums Credit. The other two pace setters each had enough, with Lovin Spoonful packing it in on the rail midway through the turn, and Trending El Gran doing so as well soon after. Hallowed Halls look very good at this point to at least hit the board, as she was five wide and moved into the third position, running a similar pace to Intagna Rose. The lane that Intagna Rose had been in was now occupied by Goblin Judge, but it was a bit of a tight fit. Anna D was also advancing, and did so in the fifth lane. Joan Of Arc was in the mix, too, but did not seem to have the same energy as others at this point. Sheza Kat now ran with the pack, but did not have room to make a run for now.

(Finish- 1:39.98)- In the stretch, Intagna Rose would take over, passing Mrs Nussbaums Credit fairly easily and maintaining her stride like a horse that does not know how to finish second or third. She would go on to win this race by about a length. Anna D did all she could in the stretch, though never threatened for the win here. She completes the exacta, with Goblin Judge getting up for third. That one may have had to check up very slightly at the top of the stretch to avoid Mrs Nussbaums Credit, and that may have kept her from the second spot. Hallowed Halls ran steady throughout, and gets fourth, ahead of Sheza Kat who found room late to run, but needed the race to be a little longer. Joan Of Arc gets sixth, and those three initial pacesetters end up in the final three spots: Mrs Nussbaums Credit, Lovin Spoonful, and Trending El Gran.

About The Winner- Intagna Rose, trained by D J C Racing Stables and ridden to victory by Mar Garcia, is a three year old filly by Slither, and is out of In It For A Minute. She was bred in New York by Night Mare Racing as a first quarter two year old, and was acquired while she was still unraced by D J C Racing Stables in April 2019 for $60.000. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her fifth in 11 starts, and it is her third stake win, two of which are graded. Her career earnings are now $325.200.
