Interpoint the One to Beat in The Martha Washington

Three Year Olds Fillies

A field of eight three year old fillies have been entered up for this years running of the Martha Washington here at Oaklawn Park. They will all be trying to get the share of Kentucky Oaks points this race offers so they can try and get a spot in the gate on the first Friday in May. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Her Strut (5-1-1-1 $36.000), trained by John Henry

First runner in the field here and she will have to step it up big time in this one. She has not been able to hit the board in a wide open stakes race on the dirt yet in her career. She ran third in the Surfer Girl on the turf two back in her only start around two turns. Maybe the distance can boost her up to a placing spot.

2. Dorilinda (6-1-1-2 $73.040), trained by M.a.r Racing

Next filly in the field here and she will be making a return to the dirt after three starts on the turf. She has placed in two stakes in her career but she has seemed to be better around one turn so far. She usually likes to come from far back so she will need a quick pace to help her out.

3. Interpoint (7-1-4-0 $227.600), trained by Night Rider Stables

Now to this filly here has ran second in two different grade ones in her career and was also fourth in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies. She is bringing a lot of class into this field and looks to beat the one to beat in here if she can run back to her two year old form.

4. Honey Snake (3-1-0-0 $30.000), trained by Estero Farms

Now onto this filly who is coming into this race off of a fourth place finish in a stakes race at Fair Grounds on the mud. Her only win was her start before that and she won very easily that day. Her only start around two turns was terrible but it was her first start so she unknown at this distance.

5. Lil Baby Bomber (5-1-0-1 $130.000), trained by Aer Stables

Another Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies participant here and she ended up running seventh that day after being on the lead most of the way in that race. This is her first race since a fourth in the grade one Starlet. I think she will have a very good chance to win this if she brings her A game.

6. Hard Target (3-1-0-0 $17.100), trained by Mo Mentum Farm

Huge step up for this filly here as she was just purchased four days ago by Mo Mentum Farm and he has decided to wheel her right in this spot. She has only a maiden win and has never been past five and a half furlongs. I don’t see her standing a chance with these at all unfortunately.

7. Chance Of A Lifetime (5-2-0-1 $51.000), trained by Fractious

Next to last runner in this field here and she is coming into this race off of a fifth place finish in the grade one Starlet. She has not ran the great in her two stakes tries so she will definitely need to step it up big time in this race. She seems a bit outclassed to me.

8. Miss Steel Mazula (3-2-0-0 $58.970), trained by Nakamura Stables

Final filly in the field here and she is coming into this race off of two wins in a row. She won a statebred maiden special weight and then in her last start won an optional claimer at Gulfstream Park. She can handle the distance just fine but she has a very tough post to overcome.

Summary

Nice field has been entered up for this race and there is some very good fillies in here all going for those Oaks points. Interpoint looks the class of the field in here to me and I think she gets to winning ways in here and gets tougher throughout the prep season. Good luck to all in the field.
