OBrien Stakes – Grade II [BC]

7 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st       Sweet Sweet Sweet         Night Rider Stables       Bravo J

One of the many horses that this stable has claimed and turned into a star they had this win coming after a few hard luck stories for the stable today. This was probably the least likely of their stakes horses running today but he overcame a horrible draw to get home for a head for a deserved win. The winner of the Vigil Stakes last time he has been running very well this year and it will be great for Night Rider who bred this one before claiming them back to see it winning at this level despite having killed the sire for non production.
It will be onto the BC for him now and who knows maybe he can keep the run going.

2nd         Shaky Sight      Gdp Inc         Silvera Ru

Second to Sweet Sweet Sweet in the Vigil Stakes last time who would have thought that that would be the form race for this one. He got much closer this time and maybe the better track had something to do with that. He is another who came via the claiming ranks and has also hit the upward curve in his development and i am sure the trainer will be very happy with this effort.

3rd      Twilight Flame        Mb Stables           Geroux F

This is the fifth time this one has led out of the gate in his career and the fifth time he has been run down so this looked at least a bit inevitable after they had traveled a furlong or so. He was one of the best workers in the race but a look at his record tells you his heart gene hasn’t got as higher rating as some and he was once again found wanting when the whips came out.

4th      Hang Around     Nakamura Stables       Pereira T J

Th problem with the inside gate can be a big problem if you don’t get the start and he missed the break here. Eventually he made a path and finished a length back in fourth in a fair effort but one that will frustrate the owner.
