Kayce springs a surprise in the Fleet Indian

The Fleet Indian
1 1/8 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $200.00 Filly 3 Year Olds.

1st Kayce, trained by Oval Express Farms

Well you could’ve stuck a pin in this race and still not believed that this one could win but win she did and in fact she did it with a bit in hand. I keep looking at her form to try and work out where this win came from and to be honest I still can’t see it. Travelling nicely in behind the leaders she picked up well to win by a length with the minimum of fuss, looking more like an odds on shot than the 150/1 shot she was. Congratulations to the winning trainer who has seen this filly lose her five races since they bought her for $35 at the beginning of the year and even decided against another turf run after a career best effort on that surface last time out. I have no idea whether this was a fluke or she has improved into a black type filly overnight but I guess only time will tell.

2nd Quiet Elegance, trained by Mb Stables

After making all and winning by four easy lengths in a much quicker time last time out I just cannot understand why she gave in so easily today. It looked like the odds would be landed as she stole a lead off slow splits but for some reason it was decided that today she would get picked up and past by a horse working slower and that has done little all year. Clearly she is not as good as that last win suggested but why I just don’t know.

3rd Midnight Wild, trained by Maxmillion Farm

Clearly two placings in graded stakes races cannot win you a weak non graded stakes these days. The class filly on form she stalked a slow pace but didn’t find much when asked.

4th Marshed, trained by D J C Racing Stables

Ditto really to the last one. Beaten just two lengths in the KYO and a close fourth in the grade one Mother Goose she found nothing today and was beaten fair and square.

5th Glitter N Dust, trained by Sarah Stables

Last all the way and faded badly.

SUMMARY

I have no idea how the winner beat the next three home. Every which way I look at it I still cannot see it but as strange and random that this result looks it is still the result and many congratulations must go to the winning trainer.
