Last Call Slams The Door In The Ballerina Win

Another day, another Grade I stakes… that’s summer in up-state NY.  Gotta hand it to the green card for handing out a nice one in this race as YME Stable’s Last Call flexed her muscles, getting home clear by two and stopping the clock at 1:212 to take Sunday’s Ballerina (GI) and stamp her ticket to Lexington in the fall.  The mandatory dead-heat came out in this race as TwinTowersRacing’s Lassitude, sent off as the 50/1 outsider, ended on even terms with Mb Stables’ Main Flirt, to set up double exacta and trifecta payoffs.  It was a nose back to Wicked Ride, making it a three-horse photo for the minor payouts.

Last Call is a 3yo bay filly by Cerveza Negra Modelo – Fugue State, by Combastic, and the YME Stable homebred was foaled right here in NY.  This was her fourth win from eight starts, and she now shows lifetime earnings of $527.300.  Congrats to the Connections!

Last Call stalked the leader 3p to the stretch, caught the leader, went past, kept to task, won as the best.  Main Flirt raced mid-pack 2p, fanned into the lane, closed full of run, ended on even terms for the place.  Lassitude just in behind the pace while racing widest of all, continued wide down the lane with a good late effort, even terms for the place.  Wicked Ride tracked the pace 2p, clear path, evenly late.  Zombie Storm inside trip just behind the pace, no excuse.  Oceanus lacked speed, some late kick to pass tiring rivals.  Dialing was sent from the gate, opening a clear lead to the top of the lane, caught, tired. Strawberry was no threat.  Storm Of Fire was outrun.  Ponderosa was outrun.  Slckmoment  Laga trailed.  Zero Twist mid-pack, tried.
