Levi Broom Looking For Spinaway Glory

GI – Spinaway (BC)

$350.000 Graded Stake 7 Furlongs on Dirt for Filly Two Year Olds

2016 Champ: Que Seras Creeps

The GI Spinaway is the last big race for two year old fillies at SAR for another year and is the first chance for east coast based horses to win their way into the BC Juvenile Filly race. The race features nine talented fillies that include Amen Sista who is looking to make it back to back wins in this race for owners D J C Racing Stables, Airlie Beach for up and coming stable Fractious and of course Levi Broom who is a perfect three for three in her young career for powerhouse Mb Stables.

1- Amen Sista (Trained by D J C Racing Stables, Ridden by Velazquez J R)

The one tasked with defending the title is Amen Sista. She is no slouch in the morning as she has works in the top 15 for five furlongs. Her maiden breaking win last time out wasn’t the most impressive time but she continues to improve off the win and could be a live long shot come race day.

2- Madame de Maintenon (Trained by Blushing Meadows, Ridden by Ortiz J L)

Four of the nine horses in this field all come out of the GII Adirondack. She finished seventh that day but was stuck wide all the way around the track but still able to make up ground on almost the whole field down the stretch. If any of the ones coming out of the race can improve off that race this would be the one just based on trip alone.

3- Speeding Tales (Trained by Cherrytree Hill Farm, Ridden by Bejarano R)

The second entry coming out of the Adirondack. She had a nice inside spot early on in the race and was one of the fastest closing as they hit the wire. She picks up Bejarano R for the race who is almost 23% on the year with two year olds and the connections are likely hoping he can time her late run a bit better then the last few races and nip them at the wire.

4- Levi Broom (Trained by Mb Stables, Ridden by Ortiz I Jr)

Not too much needs to be said about this talented filly. Every time she steps onto the track she looks more impressive and improves upon what she did last time. Each of her three races have gotten better each time, every work she puts in goes straight to the top of the charts for two year olds. All that will make her the heavy favorite here and the one to beat but if she can continue to build on what she has started to build the rest of the field will be in very tough.

5- Bluetooth Wireless (Trained by Diablo Diablo, Ridden by Albarado R J)

On her third try she was able to break her maiden in her most recent start at CT. She will likely be looking to try and set the early pace in the race as she has shown a liking for being in the lead early in the race. She will likely be one of the longest shots on the board though but was able to pick up top jock Albarado R J who was likely passed over by other top horses in the race as he has struggled a bit this year with two year olds as he is only 13% this year with twos.

6- Seydoux (Trained by Jerry Garcia Racing, Ridden by Leparoux J R)

Another of the Adirondack runners is Seydoux. She sat near the pace for much of the race but was forced to run most of the race fairly wide and by the time they hit the stretch she lost steam and ended up fading to tenth. If Leparoux save some ground this time she should have a little more kick late and should see an improved performance.

7- Free Sunset (Trained by Team 7 Illusions, Ridden by Castellano J J)

The last of the Adirondack runners finished ninth with no real excuses. She had the trip she was looking for but had nothing left in the tank down the stretch. Castellano will likely take a different approach like he did when they won the $100.000 Lynbrook and sit a bit off the pace and make his move down the lane.

8- Airlie Beach (Trained by Fractious, Ridden by Alvarado J)

Likely will be at long odds when the load into the gate but could be one to watch. She has yet to go past five and a half furlongs but always looks like she wants to go longer so here is her first chance. Works don’t blow you away and two straight second place finishes at lower level tracks don’t exactly scream GI winner but she could be primed to do some damage.

9- Silver Acceptance (Trained by Alabarda Stable, Ridden by Talamo J)

Rounding out the field from the tough nine post is Silver Acceptance. She has hit the board in all three of her career starts but they have all come at low level tracks so she is making a big jump up into this GI. Also don’t have a lot to go off when we look at her work tab as she doesn’t have many recent works showing but she will be in tough with the big jump up in class and post position working against her.
