4. McWicked

The eight-year-old remains highly competitive and may be the horse to beat on raw class, but this shorter Churchill configuration may favor a sharper tactical type like McWicked if the pace is honest.

Pace Structure and Race Outlook

Prince Mbilini, Off The Horizon, Darrow, and possibly Kidding all have enough tactical speed to be part of the first flight. Prince Mbilini is the most likely to press the issue early, while Darrow and McWicked project to sit in close attendance. Kidding should be able to stay within striking range without needing to force the pace.

The key race shape favors a horse who can sit just behind the early leaders and produce a controlled move turning for home. McWicked fits that profile best. He owns proven Churchill Downs turf form, recent winning form, and enough class to handle the Grade III level.
