Well, my picks didn’t pan out, but it looks like a lot of punters struggled in this one.  Naples, sent off at 11/2 odds moved up quickly on the turn and got the job done late to win The Spinaway (GI) by a quarter length, getting the seven panels in 1:222 on the fast SAR main track.  Dirty Storm only had two horses beat turning for home but made a race out of it, closing down fast and taking the second spot at 60/1 odds.  Foregone Conclusion was another neck back in third with Z Plenty in fourth.

The flag was up, the gates flew open and we were off and running and This One Is Fast lived up to her name, taking the early lead from the far outside, Foregone Conclusion and Literal Goat giving chase, Class On Class along the inside, Rum Dummy between horses, then to the outside for Clown Face and Bothersome, just in behind that pair was Naples and Sheza Bombay, down to the rail for Z Plenty and Dirty Storm was the early trailer.

This classy group of fillies hit the far turn and had a half mile to run as This One Is Fast showed the way by almost two lengths.  A group of four giving chase with Literal Goat out four wide, Forgone Conclusion, Class On along the inside and Rum Dummy in that group, a gap of two back to Clown Face on the outside of Sheza Beauty and Naples, Bothersome a length off of that trio, Dirty Storm just to the inside of that one and Z Plenty drifted back to a trailing position.

Around the far turn and to the top of the lane with three-sixteenth’s to run, This One Is Fast was still fastest of all, Foregone Conclusion was now a length back in second but the Calvary was in full change just behind them….Class On Class along the inside, Naples moving up quickly next to that one, Literal Goat, Rum Dummy and Clown Face out wide, another length to Z Plenty Sheza Bombay and Dirty Storm between that pair with Dirty Storm trying to rally from the far outside.

Inside the final sixteenth and to the wire, Naples up to stick a nose in front of Foregone Conclusion, This One Is Fast wilting a bit, Dirty Storm pressing up from the pack, Rum Dummy on her outside, Clown Face on her outside, Z Plenty right there with Class On Class… but as they got to the wire, this was all about Naples as she was to be denied and took the win by a quarter length.  Dirty Storm moved up to take the place with Foregone Conclusion in third.  Z Plenty was fourth, Clown Face and This One Is Fast couldn’t be separated and dead-heated for fifth, Rum Dummy seventh, Class On Class eighth, Bothersome ninth, Sheza Bombay tenth and Literal Goat was last in the field of eleven.

Naples is a 2yo chestnut filly by Shark Force – Pivotal Cherokee, by Cherokee Scope and she was bred in Cal by her owner, Mo Mentum Farm.  She stays undefeated, three-for-three, and now has earnings of $243.000.  No doubt, she moves towards the top of the class and look for her as we head towards KEE this fall.
