Na Pali Looks Ultra Tough in The FL Oaks

The FL Oaks – GIII
TAM Race 6 1 1/16M – Turf
Purse $200.000
Three Year Olds Fillies

A field of six runners are lining up for this years edition of the Florida Oaks here over the Tampa Bay turf course. The obvious stand out in here is the inside filly who won the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Na Pali looks to be the standout but it will be no easy task for sure. Lets take a look at the field.

1. Na Pali (5-4-1-0 $806.400), trained by Smokey Stover

Here she is right here. The Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf champion and she is looking ready to go for this one. She won her only out this year against optional claimers at Fair Grounds. She is the standout in this race for sure and she is going to be my top pick.

2. Warmed Up (5-2-0-1 $78.480), trained by Mb Stables

Now I think that filly here has one of the best chances at upsetting this favorite. She won the Surfer Girl at Del Mar last year before running sixth in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. She just ran sixth against Na Pali at Fair Grounds but she was only beaten a length. She will need to run a huge race.

3. Cross The Plate (7-3-0-1 $113.400), trained by Crocker Ggs

Another stakes winner in the field and this filly won the Tepin Stakes at Aqueduct last November on their turf course. She just ran second at Fair Grounds in an allowance race but that was going five furlongs. She stretches back out in here and I think that she is capable of running a big race.

4. Trippi Tip Toe (6-1-1-1 $49.200), trained by Estero Farms

The least accomplished runner in the field right here but she is not a bad filly at all. She is stakes placed in her career but she is definitely going to have to step it up big time in here. She is going to have to run the race of her life to have a shot at winning this race.

5. Illustrious Cat (6-3-0-0 $140.020), trained by Chili King Stables

Well here we have another graded stakes winner in the field. This filly won the grade three Durante Stakes at Del Mar last November. Her only start this year was going down the hill at Santa Anita so she has an excuse for that one. She will need to run a big race but she has a chance to do it.

6. French Box (5-2-0-1 $107.410), trained by Threshold

Now here is the runner who I think has the best shot of beating Na Pali. This filly ran third in the grade one Natalma before a bad effort in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. She beat a Pennsylvania bred allowance field in her last start so she is in good form and she has a shot to win this.

Summary

Well I think that is is pretty obvious that Na Pali is the obvious standout in this field. She is going to be the favorite and she is my top pick in this spot. I think the best chance to beat her is the outside runner French Box if she runs her race also. Good luck to all in the field.
