2 AQU The May
$100.000 3yoF Foaled in NY 1m Dirt 122lbs +penalties
A field of nine New York bred sophomore fillies will be headed post-ward Sunday afternoon and we look at the field for The May. I’m going to take what appears to be the class to me and put Antiquated Story on top. That last out finish kind of scares me, since she put on the brakes pretty had that afternoon, but if she can run back to that Golden Rod (GII) race, she should be able to handle this bunch. I landed on Rubber Bullet in the second spot since she’s as consistent as you could want and has back-to-back wins coming to today’s contest. It’s a real head-scratchier and I won’t be surprised by any
finish.

Broke maiden in her most recent at CT going a mile and a sixteenth and she came from way back to win going away in that one. Has never been worse than second in four career starts and this looks like a logical spot for her. Training well, runs her eyes out… I’d give her a serious look.

Another that broke maiden at CT in fine fashion but she did it on the front end. Was third in an Alw race there after winning and now looks for some black-type. She likes an off track but I don’t thing that will be a factor in this one.

Three wins from seven starts makes her the leader in the clubhouse coming into this race. Was fifth vs. similar back in Dec and ran second at GP to kick-off the 2020 season. She has won on the lead and closing so it’s just a matter of letting her go get ’em.

Nice win vs. NY-bred maidens in her second start and showed some tenacity that day, winning by a nose. Both of her races were over this strip so the home-cooking could help her. She may be over-looked and give some value as well.

Shocking finish in the Silverbulletday when she stopped faster than Mike Oz going past a KFC. She closed well on a wet surface facing graded horses so it looked like a spot for her to get a win. I’m not sure which way to go with her but she is the probably favorite.

Nice Alw win on a soggy turf course at FG last out where she controlled the pace and got the victory. She has been up the track vs. NY breds in her two prior starts for this outfit, so she will need to show something more on the main track in this one.

Took at 22.500 claimer at SA in her most recent, on the down-hill course at SA, and showed some real guts in that nose-victory. She’s won two of her last three starts, one on dirt and one on turf, so you know she has some versatility and some talent.

She’s never been off of the board in five starts including back-to-back wins getting ready for this. Nice win at today’s distance at TUP, winning by two and looking to play with that group. She could be the one.

Just missed at TUP gong a mile and an eighth so the distance should not be a question for this girl. She’s been on the board in five of nine starts but hasn’t had her picture taken since last Jun and both of her wins came against softer.
