Painted Ice Makes Good Use of His Rail Draw and Wins Lexington Stakes

Lexington Stakes Grade 3

1 1/16 on Dirt

Purse $400.00 For Three Year Olds

Keenland Park Lexington, Kentucky

Painted Ice from Alydar Stables made good use of the rail and saved ground in a seesaw type battle of a race Saturday as three-year-olds raced towards the 2026 Kentucky Derby. “Ice” showed more speed today and was never further away at any call of the race than a couple lengths. He kept pushing as three horses spread across the track came to the wire and prevailed in extra game fashion. Congrats to the winning connections. Private Money from Winning Link Stable had the look of a big longshot in here, but got pounded at the windows and started in the low double digits. Somebody knew what they were doing and he ran a banger to just miss the victory spoils. Big, big race for a horse coming off a first level allowance miss at a minor track. Puppet Master from Riggins Racing ran a much improved race today and looks to coming back to hand now. It will be interesting to see where he ends up next. Gravenberch from Royalty Stables went off as the public choice and continues to fire, just a touch short today. Who knows where he will top out at. He looks to have a bright future.

Of The Rest:

Crucifixion from Paradise Stable got crushed at the windows in a betting move that can only be described as hard to believe. However, the maiden backed up the support with another decent effort. His next start will be eagerly awaited by his fans and he shouldn’t be a maiden much longer.

Peranakan from Robeth tasted defeat for the first time today, but he did manage to beat a few home in an ok effort, especially given the circumstances.

Sinissipi Swinger from TwinTowersRacing sat a good trip right off the leader’s heels, but tired late and dropped out of it.

Punjabi, also from Winning Link Stable ran near the back and also ran in spots today never making an impact.

Daring Ned from The Sidley Stud started in fifth position and never got closer during the running and ended up his day in last. He is still small and growing, but at this point looks like a tired campaigner right now.

Strike from DJC Racing Stables was scratched.
