1 Staryour, trained by Hawaiian Shirt Guy

It means a lot to be tried and tested over this trip and surface for a two year old and this youngster managed a decent win in a $50 claimer at DMR in these conditions last time out. The time was fair and although he only managed a dead heat his work times are fair and he looks to have a fighting chance.

2 Fine Spirit, trained by Drabfantasy

It not unusual to see a maiden running in s stakes race at this time of year and this one looks a fairly useful maiden. A good debut third in a sprint maiden confirmed his liking for turf and some very decent works over a mile did the same for his tendency towards a route. Drabfantasy has been hugely successful with their Broomstick line and this one could well add to the dynasty.

3 Laffin Attack, trained by Red Square Stables

Won a GP sprint maiden by just under a length after some lightening works and his mile work in sub 1.36 is a big pointer towards his chance sin this race. Not stylishly bred he is beautifully put together and must have a big hope on that last work alone.

4 Thunder Kruz, trained by Brave

Has competed in three high level maiden winning last time out over a mile on this track. His pre-race works were nice but we haven’t seen much of him since that and will have to go on the strength of that last win in a super time of 1.34.

5 Grade, trained by Team 7 Illusions

Flew home in an early season free track maiden but hasn’t been seen on the track since that April debut. Two sub 1.36 works and a 1.10 six furlong work suggests he is very much in his element here as long as he isn’t too race rusty.

6 Fight The Fear, trained by Blushing meadows

Stayed on nicely in the SAR Special to be beaten just two lengths into sixth but had worked pretty strongly in a mile turf work prior to that suggesting this sort of race may have been on the cards. Gelded since that run and hailing from a stable that has had plenty of success with juveniles I expect a big race if he can pick his way through late on.

7 Asklepius, trained by Dandy Dan Stables

A nice maiden winner he looked like he may follow up last time out as he led them clear throughout much of a DMR overnight race. He weakened late though and finished second but has since worked a couple of sub 1.36 turf miles suggesting that this surface may bring the best out of him.

SUMMARY

This is far more open a race that it looks at first glance with some very nice turf workers looking to stake a BC claim. I am liking Grades chances but the lack of a recent run worries me so I may have to go for Fight The Fear to get home today.
