Princess Of Lady Angela Stakes?

Lady Angela Stakes

7 Furlong Ontario Bred Stake Purse $125.000 Three Year Old Fillies

2016 Champ: Ena Barb

The 2017 version of the Lady Angela looks like a fun one. The field is comprised of a great group of very consistent three year old fillies looking to put their stamp on the Ontario bred filly division. Could we possibly see any of these talented fillies in the Woodbine Oaks in a few weeks time?

1- Formage Blanc (John Henry, ridden by Contreras L)

The first of two entries from the stable of John Henry. This three year old filly will be competing at the stake level for the first time in her career after a nice allowance win at Tampa last month. She will be looking for a hot early pace to run at as she has shown in the past. She is in tough against these talented Ontario bred fillies, likely a contender in future ON bred stakes but will be in tough.

2- El Gran Princess (John Henry, ridden by Boulanger G)

El Gran Princess has been very consistent early in her career. Never missing the top three in her eight career starts. She came into her last start as the heavy favorite and has a bit of a disappointing outcome with a third place finish in the Fury. She is a talented filly though and will be one to watch in the Ontario bred stakes this year.

3- Roxy Lisa (Canadian Racing, ridden by Wilson E J)

Another filly in this field that hasn’t had a problem with consistency early on in her career. Finishing first or second in all three of her races so far this season. She was an impressive winner in the Gasparilla Stakes to start off her 2017 year.

4- First Choice (Asgar, ridden by Hernandez R M)

Continuing with the theme of consistent runners is First Choice. She’s been running at a little lower levels then the others but has still managed to hit the board in all five of her starts so far in 2017. She is shipping in from FON after a solid $50.000 stake where she finished second.

5- Attitude Adjustment (Emerald Racing Inc, ridden by Garcia Alan)

Finishing fourth in the Fury just behind El Gran Princess last time out is Attitude Adjustment. She looks like a filly that might want a little extra distance but was worth a shot in this state bred stake.

6- Sharp Terms (Mb Stables, ridden by Husbands P)

Still a maiden Sharp Terms comes in looking to get over that hump. She ran a very respectable seventh in the GII Gazelle last time out. Her works also indicate she is one you can’t totally overlook despite still being a maiden. With that said she is still in pretty tough with some of the great consistent runners in this field.
