Proud Eights is Ten Times Better than Her Opposition in Beverly D

Beverly D – Grade I
1 3/16 Mile Turf Stake Purse $400.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st       Proud Eights        Estero Farms          Bejarano R

It is great to see the best horse in the race, with the best draw win like the form book said it should. Stalking early she was pulling Bejarano’s arms out and when he slipped the reins a knot she pulled away for a very easy three length win. She will be BC bound now and is much better form now than she was last year when she could only manage eleventh.

2nd      Too Scared To Party      Smokey Stover         Loveberry J

Showed no early pace as usual and could only run on for a distant second. She loves these extreme trips but under the new engine suffers greatly from her lack of early speed and may struggle to better her BC fourth from last year.

3rd       Intanga Rose        D J C Racing Stables       Garcia Mar

Continues to run well but she also continues to be just a little disappointing. This was a better effort than in the Diana last time but the punters will be losing faith in her as she continues the year without a win.

4th       Common Misconception       Nakamura Stables       Court J K

The lead has been the place to be recently but this track wasn’t playing the game and again we saw one go off a bit too fast and weaken like they did on the old race engine. She may be better over a slightly shorter trip which probably accentuated the defeat and of course the three year olds aren’t handling the older’s which wouldn’t have helped either.
