Proud Eights Takes Soggy Wiley at KEE

4/10/21

     $300.000       4yo&Up F&M           1 1/16th  Turf         123lbs

The KEE turf course was more lagoon than lush on Saturday with the constant rain… and the day keyed on long-shots.  No reason to change anything for the Wiley (GI) as Proud Eights, owned by Estero Farms and dismissed at the windows at 11/1 odds took the mile and a sixteenth turf stakes by two lengths.  The final time was 1:44.57 on a course labeled soft.  Post time favorite Too Scared To Party nosed out Zee Model for the second spot, then it was another neck back to Quest For Fame in fourth.

Proud Eights is a 5yo chestnut mare by Eight Eights – Proud To Watch, by Proud Chai, and she was bred here in KY by First Class Stable.  Purchased privately prior to her racing career for $35.000, she now has five wins from twenty starts and now shows $1,015.400 in earnings.

Proud Eights broke well, tracked the pace to the lane, up to take over, kicked clear late.  Too Scared To Party taken back after the start, mid-pack to the far turn, moved forward, continued on well while no threat to the winner.  Zee Model rated back off of the pace, steady gain, evenly late.  Quest For Fame taken back early, still outrun to the lane, best foot too late.  Data Overload up close early, moved forward through the far turn to engage the leader, tired.  Ete Creek gave an even effort. Bagina trailed, passed tiring rivals late.  Certain Vessel sent from the gate, set the pace to the far turn, headed, folded.  Joan Of Arc flashed early speed, tired.  Intanga Rose was never involved, outrun.
