Queen City Oaks Brings Nine To BTP

Queen City Oaks ($100.00 Purse)
BTP- For Fillies Three Years Old
One Mile and One Sixteenth on the Dirt
May 29, 2026

Friday represents a rare opportunity for BTP to get in the spotlight with a handful of $100.00 stakes taking place. Among them is the Queen City Oaks, a race that will send three year old fillies a little more than a mile on the main track. This is a race that first appeared in 2006 at RD and was held every year until 2013. From there, it would disappear on our calendar until 2018 for a one-off race, until it would again not be held until 2024. It did not run last year, so that 2024 winner was The Sidley Stud’s Techfluence Tiara and it was her career highlight and she has since been retired. In 2026, we will have nine taking part, so let’s take a look at the field!

1- The Valley Remnant (Winning Link Stables, ridden by J L Castanon)- Won two of her first three races, coming with Aml Racing, before she was auctioned off for $25.01. So far, Winning Link Stables has run her twice, getting a solid third place effort at a SA allowance before disappointing a month later at CD in an optional claimer. There are two others in this field the beat her out that day. I like her ability to bounce back, but she does give herself a lot of work to do in the stretch with how far off the pace she has been early on recently.

2-Ureallygottaholdonme (TwinTowersRacing, ridden by J N Hernandez)- A lightly raced filly that makes just her fifth start here. Won in her second race, a result that impressed the trainer so much that she was entered in the $200.00 Busher at AQU a month later. Never got involved there, running at the back and off the pace before finishing in the middle of the field. Last month, she ran in that same optional claimer at CD where we saw The Valley Remnant with a different tactic and lasix, and finished third (in a dead heat).

3- Miss Perfect Devil (La Canada Racehorses, ridden by J McKee)- We’re going to get the three horses that ran in that same CD optional claimer last month out of the way already. For Miss Perfect Devil, it was a great race, as she scored an impressive wire to wire win. That’s the way that she likes to run, so I’d expect to see her out in front early again. Overall, she’s won two out of her last three and the one she did not win may be the most impressive result, running second in the $200.00 VA Oaks. You also may remember her from running in the BC Juvenile Turf Sprint last year.

4- Lucky Delite (The Sidley Stud, ridden by S E Bermudez)- The story of Lucky Delite is one of a horse that is more about reliably finishing in the top three instead of winning. She got a couple of wins out of the way early in her career at FP, and her competition level would increase from there, regularly running in ungraded stakes since last October. In them, Lucky Delite has been productive with her best races being runner ups in the $225.00 Fern Creek in November and the Las Virgenes Stakes this February. While she should perform well here, can she finally get over the top and win again? I don’t like her recent work but there can be reasons for it.

5- Golden Warrior (Paradise Stable, ridden by J Elliott)- Took on Lucky Delite in the Las Virgenes back in February and while that one was finishing second, Golden Warrior finished in the double digits. She’s still only won once over her nine starts, and does have a couple of duds in her past performances, so that can make me think she can rebound from that February race. However, I would have liked to have seen a better result in her last race, where she was fifth in a SA optional claimer. The Valley Remnant was one of the horses that beat her that day.

6- Bunny Connection (Nakamura Stables, ridden by C Pilares)- At the start of her career, Bunny Connection was a perfect three-for-three, and that’s a stretch that would catapult her into a couple of preps for the KYO. After running third in the Cincinnati Trophy Stakes she showed more potential but a mediocre performance in the Bourbonette Oaks had the trainer abandon that trail. When we last saw this filly, she would sprint for the first time and finished in the middle of the field in a PRX optional claimer, making this the first chance that she has had to get redemption for the Bourbonette Oaks.

7- Brandy Outside (The Sidley Stud, ridden by G Lagunes)- She’s made a career of running at fair tracks, or participating in the stakes at the free tracks. Brandy Outside has won thrice in nine starts, and her most recent win came right here. However, that’s not the flex it will be when writing up a horse that runs at a high level track. This filly has never been tested anywhere close to how she will be here, but she’s actually working better than her stablemate and certainly looks like she belongs.

8- Risque Babe (D J C Racing Stables, ridden by G Ashton)- This will be the second start for Risque Babe for the trainer, after she was picked up for $40.00 in a March private sale. She had gotten off to a good, but inconsistent start to her career in her old barn and did participate in the Grade 3 Herecomesthebride Stakes at GP though was over her head that day. D J C took a more conservative start with her, entering her in the $25.00 FON Special Stakes- Fillies, where she was second. It does seem as though she will like to be running today’s distance more.

9- Reasonable Charge (Nakamura Stables, ridden by P W Ouzts)- Early in her career, Reasonable Charge was run on the grass and did not show much. In November, Nakamura moved her back to the main track, and has not looked back as the filly has been a part of the exacta in all five of her starts since that point. This includes three wins, including one at TP in an optional claimer in February. After a couple months off, she re-appeared at TAM and ran second against three others. That was won by her stablemate Sod Fairy, who just ran second in the Grade 3 Miss PS at LRL two weeks ago.

Prediction: 3-6-7-9
