I’m a firm believer in horses-for-courses and Raj Action Packed sure does love the “field atmosphere” here at KD, and he showed it again today, taking the KD Turf Cup (GII), as he did in the 2019 rendition.  He was sixth in this race last season, but the old boy (now an 8yo) certainly isn’t done by any stretch of the imagination.  Watching the pace from just in behind the leaders, the gray battled the length of the lane to prevail by three-quarters of a length, stopping the timer in 2:24.83, just off of his own track record (2.24.51).  Longshot (26/1) Farquaad closed well and battled to the wire, but had to settle for the second spot, a quarter length better than pace-setter Found Peace, tiring a bit late to be third.  Hollywood Capo, also involved in the pace, was another half length back in fourth.

Raj Action Packed is an 8yo gray gelded son of Iron Chito – Black Heart, by Kimbo Slice, and he was bred by Night Rider Stable in NY.  Acquired by Arindel via the claim box for just $25.000, the old guy now shows fourteen wins from fifty-five starts, four of those victories coming this season, he has impressive earnings of $3,508.540, and he certainly doesn’t look like he’s anywhere near done yet.  Congrats to Arindel and all of the connections!

Raj Action Packed stalked the pace, moved up through the turn to contend at the furlong marker, all out to the wire, prevailed.  Farquaad rated back well off of the pace early, swept up on the turn, lane battle, could not get to winner in a game effort.  Found Peace broke alertly, set the pace to the lane, headed, nothing left.  Hollywood Capo pressed the pace, weary late.  Concerto Of Eggs rated, some late interest while no threat.  L Train raced evenly, never involved.  So Lonely mid-pack to the turn, tired.  Panther High was outrun.  Winter Solstice broke in hand, rushed up into the turn, tired.   Trilogy flashed early speed, stopped.
