7 GG     El Camino [KYD]

     $100.000           1 1/8m Dirt           3yo         121 +penalties

Speed is a dangerous weapon and Rhossili used his to get the job done on Saturday, taking the El Camino [KYD] by a head in a final time of 1:48.17 for the mile and a
sixteenth and moving him one step closer to the first weekend in May.  Shadow Man closed from well back to edge Grond for second in a finish that was bang-bang-bang.

The field got away from the gate right in front of the crowd here at GG and Rhossili was on the early gas, Sad Hills to his inside and applying pressure, Belo Horizonte between that pair, then drop down to the inside for Steel Champion, Grond next to that one.   Anthony G was next, Money Truck from the rail, then Shadow Man, Deeds Not Words, Obeah Mon from the outside and Hollywood Revolution was the early trailer parked
widest of all.

Around the clubhouse turn and on to the back stretch with six furlongs to travel and Sand Hills was up to put a neck in front from the rail, Rhossili not going away from the leader, a gap of two to Belo Horizonte three wide, Steel Champion on the rail and Grond between that pair.  Another length to Anthony G three wide, Shadow Man and Money Truck to his inside, Deeds Not Words on the outside of that duo, then a gap to Hang
Around, Hollywood Revolution and Obeah Mon at the rear.

Continued down the backside and to the far turn, the field had three furlongs to run and Rhossili had seen enough, moved up quickly, and wrestled the lead away from Sand Hills.  It was another two and a half lengths back to Grond, Steel Champion to his inside, Belo Horizonte to his outside, another length to Shadow Man, then Money Truck saving
ground, Anthon G on his outside, a length to Hollywood Revolution on the inside of Deeds Not Words, Hang Around and Obeah Mon still the back marker.

Around the turn into the lane and now moving past the furlong marker, Rhossili had skipped off to a two and a half length advantage, Grond feeling the whip and trying to chase that one down, Sand Hills with clear sailing up the rail, Shadow Man with a chance and Belo Horizonte down the center of the track with a clear path.  Steel Champion continuing up the rail, then a wall of five trying to push forward and Obeah Mon still
at the rear.

Deep stretch and to the wire, Rhossili in front but the lead was shrinking as Grond was closing in and now Shadow Man finding an inside path and coming fast.  But as they hit the wire it was Rhossili hanging on, out dueling the late push of Shadow Man by a head, and Grond was another head back in third.  It was two lengths back to Hollywood Revolution in fourth, Sand Hill in fifth, Belo Horizonte sixth, Obeah Mon with some late foot in seventh, Hang Around eighth, Deeds Not Words ninth, Money Truck in tenth, Steel Champion eleventh and Anthony G closed this one out.

Rhossili is a 3yo gelded son of Tragic – Occult, by Ye Charley, and he was bred in NY by Aer Stables.  Acquired from the Sep 19 Auction for $5.140, the Asgar trainee seems to be on the fast track to Louisville.  This was the third win in a row, and first stakes for this one as he now shows earnings of $131.200.

Rhossili broke alertly pressed the pace, moved up alertly to take over, clear lead in the lane, hung on, won driving.  Shadow Man broke in hand, content to reserve off of the
lead, strong kick in the lane while closing on the inside, just missed.  Grond broke in hand, steady push forward, contended for the win only to be out-dueled for the place.  Hollywood Revolution far back early, steady gain while no threat to the top three.  Sand Hills away quickly to earn the early lead, tired.  Belo Horizonte raced mid-pack throughout.  Obeah Mon trailed, passed tiring rivals.  Hang Around was never a threat.  Deeds Not Words was outrun. Money Truck showed little. Steel Champion flashed speed, tired. Anthony G done after five furlongs, tired.
