Robeth is Hoping First Win of the Season Comes in The Walker.

Having gone 0 for 70 this season at the time of this article, trainer Robeth is hoping that the recent geld of Cross G will do the trick at bringing home a victory. Earned his maiden victory over this oval, distance and surface, so can he repeat on Saturday? This will be his only entry for the eight race card here at Churchill.

  • The Walker- Purse $150.000
  • Churchill Downs- For three Year olds.
  • Five furlongs in distance- Turf Course
  • Saturday April 25th, 2020

Not having a first win since the start of the season is definitely not something that Robeth wants on his resume. He has been struggling over the past three season with just five wins in 131 starts. The ten year veteran here at HRP last managed to capture a stakes race with Beholder in 2015 when she captured the Gr.III Gallorette Hdcp. that year. Now the hopes have been placed on Cross G to bring home a much needed title. He does have the services of Court in the irons, and that rider has been hitting the top quite regular of late, and this one does have the ability to get on top and never look back. My concern is the fact that a major change of equipment and meds has been made, and that could factor in the outcome.

So who else will be looking to take advantage of this shorter sprint affair? Mb Stables will be sending out a tandem entry with Wingman breaking from the rail post, and his stablemate Pollinate going from post number six. Wingman is coming off of a Clm32 victory over a soft going surface at SA. That was a mile on the grass, and he didn’t get started till later in that affair. He will need to be up on his toes early here to make a dent. Both his wins have come over route affairs so he is questionable. As for Pollinate, he got into the hunt early over at the Fairgrounds going six panels, stalking until the very end, then narrowly winning by a head in a fast paced affair. Has yet to challenge the grass in his career, but has finished in the top two in four out of five, so he could show some life today.

One who should get top marks here based on his SRF numbers is Triple King County who earned a 93 SRF in his most recent $75 Texas Glitter race, where he came to within a length against a 56 and two final time. Has been in the 90+ numbers in his past four starts, so watch for this one to steal the show.

Trainer Nakamura Stables will send out Hollywood Assembly from the two hole. This sophomore was in a heated battle in his most recent five and a half turf affair at the Fairgrounds, going back and forth with Caltastic ( Our Athletes). That one has come back to go runner-up once again and was snatched up in a claiming affair. Watch for Hollywood Assembly to once again challenge on the frontend here, and will more then likely find the speed of Cross G in the early stages.

Ric Flair ( Rampage Stable ) gets gate number three for his start, and he has only competed on the grass in his career. Has two wins in six career starts, both coming at today’s distance. While there are a couple of runners who could possible go sub 57 times in this affair, he should be able to stick around at the wire and find a check waiting for him at the end.
