Royal Eclipse shocks the punters in the Fayette

10/27 Fayette – Grade II
1 1/8 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $200.00 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st   Royal Eclipse  Chili King Stables               Leparoux J R

I thought a three year old would win this race but i must admit i didnt think it would be this one. Settling off the pace he made good ground and won in the end by a fairly cosey length. Chili King has really got the best out of this gelding after he bought him for what looked a shade pricey $70 but he has proved it was an astute purchase with this grade two win. He is clearly an improving sort and his trainer will be looking for another good purse to steal before he turns four and has to give weight to horses like him.

2nd   L A Raw  D J C Racing Stables  Lanerie C J

He was in front with a  furlong to run but got out finished in the end by the three year old weight allowance. This was a good effort though and he looks as though he may be heading for a successful five year old season now he has found his groove.

3rd   One For Charlie  TwinTowersRacing  Court J K

An interesting choice for favourite he ran much as i expected him to whacking away for third. This run brings into question his awful run in the PA Derby last time although he tried to stalk a rabbit in that race and as we all know that is suicidal. He is a good sort and should be around as a four year old running in this sort of grade.

4th   Kiss The Snake  Nakamura Stables  Gaffalione T

kept on well enough without really quickening and ended up fourth in the end. He has become a bit of an enigma these days and i wonder whether a return to sprinting may be on the cards.
