Siberian Prince an Easy Winner in The San Francisco Mile

The San Francisco Mile-Grade III

GG Race 5 1M Turf

Purse $200.000 For

Three Year Olds & Up

1st Siberian Prince, trained by Sir Daniel Martin

Broke well and was able to get an advantageous position just off the rail before entering the first turn. Stalked the pacesetter through the first half mile and took the lead after three quarters. Opened up by almost two lengths down the stretch and was able to hold off Early Retirement to score the win.

2nd Early Retirement, trained by Mb Stables

Broke well but jockey decided to take back and race three wide around the first turn. Continued to back up down the backstretch and was 7 lengths from the lead as they entered the far turn. Started to angle out as they moved around the turn and charged down the stretch to come up ¾ of a length short.

3rd Friends Of A Feather, trained by Royalty Racing

Raced three lengths off the lead through the first six furlongs. Tried to keep pace with Siberian Prince when he made his move but was unable to. Managed to hold third in a tight photo.

4th Great Broomstick, trained by Smokey Stover

Saved ground all the way around but was unable to make up any ground on the leaders in the stretch.

Summary

Siberian Prince looked like a winner every step of the way in this one and should be a serious player on the turf the entire year. Early Retirement got an interesting trip and should improve off this. Friends Of A Feather did well to over come the weight and get the show. HRP really needs to look at the weight older horses must give in these races as it basically takes away any chance they have of winning.
