GI – Fourstardave Handicap
$500.000 Graded Stake 1 Mile on InTurf For Three & Up
The Fourstardave drew a field of seven talented turf males that have almost dominated the division for nearly three years now so something had to give. Compress was one of the younger ones in the field and went off as the post time favorite but it was a old vet that managed to come home with the title. Sir Tom coming into the race off a nice one mile victory was able to repeat that at 17-1 to come home with the victory.
Out of the gate Tundra Kenny, Comes The Dream and Hold The Mach would charge out to try and set the early pace while Tin Lizzie took back and was quickly seven lengths off the lead and would never be able to dig himself out of the last place spot.
Tundra Kenny was forced to take the long way around most of the around the first turn until he could clear the rest of the field and grab a rail spot heading down the backstretch.
Down the backside they didn’t move much but as they went around the final turn and into the stretch Tundra Kenny held strong until the final furlong where Compress snuck through to his inside and Sir Tom swung to the middle of the track and made their moves. In the end Sir Tom would stick a head ahead of Compress for the victory. Tundra Kenny would be able to hold on for a strong third and Valiant Charge would round out the top four.
Four year old Champion Farley would finish fifth with Hold The Mach, Comes The Dream and Tin Lizzie rounding out the field.
Congratulations to Brave and their talented six year old Sir Tom and his third grade one victory of his career.
