West Northwest Steals Show In Longacres

GIII – Longacres Mile

$200.000 Graded Stake 1 Mile on Dirt for Three & Up

Going into the race the talk was about Crop Duster and if he could build on his impressive win last time out in the GIII Iowa Derby. But it was West Northwest that came in and stole the show and came away with the victory.

The gates swung open and Dogs Infowarrior was the quickest out of the gate but as they went into the first turn the one widest of all, Indian Chief took the lead and would lead them down the backstretch. Within a length of him to the inside was Dogs Infowarrior with Crop Duster a couple lengths off them with Red Broomstick and West Northwest just off him and Spooned well back seven lengths off the lead.

As they went into the stretch Dogs Infowarrior, West Northwest and Crop Duster took on the leader who quickly gave up the lead with West Northwest coming out of the pack with the lead and running away to a one length win. Dogs Infowarrior and Crop Duster both crossed the line at the exact same time, dead heating for second while Red Broomstick was able to finish fourth. Indian Chief would fade back to fifth with Spooned never being a factor in the race finishing last.

Congratulations to Blushing Meadows and West Northwest on winning the GIII Longacres Mile at EMD.
