Sir Tom Turns the Clock Back in The Canadian Turf

The Canadian Turf – Grade III
1 Mile Inner Turf Stake Purse $150.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st Sir Tom, trained by Brave
I dont often get it right but i managed to pull of a 1251 to 1 trifecta in my preview of this race so whilst some may have been surprised to see the ex BC Champ bouncing back to form i certainly wasnt. A good solid early pace was expected and it transpired as those that sat of the pace a little seem to do best at the end. Everything worked perfectly for this majestic six year old who picked them up in the stretch and put them away with all of his old zest. Not many horses manage to win back to back stakes races but as the winner of this race for the second year running he adds yet another superlative to his amazing record.

2nd Valiant Charge, trained by Threshold
Put in a very good effort to be second and it even looked at one point like he was going to win. He enjoyed a nice trip from the inside gate and kept on well enough, he just has to turn this form into some wins which in previous seasons he has struggled to do.

3rd Not My Idea, trained by D J C Racing
Stayed on nicely for third in a much improved effort. This four year old definitely looks to be on the improve and with only nine runs under his belt his future looks all ahead of him.

4th Red Zebell, trained by Nj Vets
Kept on ok for a close fourth, this wasnt a bad first up effort but he will need to improve a bit from the run to make a dent in the turf mile ranks this year.

SUMMARY
With the sprinter in the outside gate the race engine was always going to spit him out the stalls and ensure a strong pace. That played nicely into the winners hands.
