Small Field of Five for Giants Causeway on KEE Turf

4/16/22

  1   KEE      Giants Causeway

$200.000      3yo&Up F&M      5 1/2f  Turf      3yo 117lbs   Older 125lbs

A small field of five sprinting females will be on the menu for the Giants Causeway, a five and a half furlong turf sprint on Saturday, here at KEE.  The difference in this one could be weight as the 3yo’s will be getting a seven pound allowance and that’s a lot to ask.  With that in mind, I gave Jessica Alba the slight edge today.  She’s been close in every race she’s been in and with only six starts, the up side is there as well.  Add in the weight, and she may be sitting in a good spot.  From the older ladies, I’d give Ms Joyce a chance here today.  She has been sharp racing at GP this winter and if she can carry that form over, she should be in the hunt.

Here’s The Field –

1
   Ruby Jaws    Arindel    Rocco J S Jr   125   6/1

She had four wins last season but was off of the board in both starts in 22.  She was a close-up fourth in the Captiva Island, last out, and certainly knows how to sprint on the grass.  She needs to wake it up a bit, but her best would certainly put her in the thick of things.

2
Creepy Authority    Smokey Stover    Murrill M   117   7/2

Three wins in a row before that runner-up effort in the Sweet Live (GIII) at SA on the down-hill course, and this looks like a good spot for her.  The weight difference is enough that you have to give her a big chance to be in the picture when they hit the wire.

3
Ritmo Te Atrapara    First Flight Stable    Jaramillo E   125   10/1

She threw an absolute clunker last out at GP face stakes types, but was second in the Zenyata at FG, going today’s distance.  She did win over this course last fall, so maybe the home cooking does her some good.  She’s an outsider.

4
   Jessica Alba    Arindel    Velazquez J R   117   5/2

Another with three consecutive wins prior to a fourth in the Startac at TUP and then was third in the Melody Of Colors at GP, last out.  She has been in some very quick races and that speed could add up to a win in this race.

5
   Ms Joyce    RNP Stables    Ferrer J C   125   3/1

Probably the one to watch from the older lot, showing nine lifetime wins and a nice bankroll in the process.  She was second in the Captiva and won the Ladies Turf Sprint, both at GP.  She certainly deserves a big look today.
