Someone Put Some Cinnamon in Seabiscuit Handicap

Seabiscuit Handicap – Grade II
1 1/16 Mile Turf Stake Purse $250.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st  Cinnamon Strike         Smokey Stover         Gutierrez Mario

Sometimes it is not about what a horse has done but more about how far and fast they are traveling up their improvement curve. This four year old has been given plenty of time in overnights and has dipped his hoof in the big time three times now, the first time didn’t go so well, the second was a definite improvement and now the third and he looks ready to go on from here. Just behind the speed horses he found just enough down the stretch to get home by a neck. He may never be a superstar but he is as honest as they come and placed in the right race her was good enough today to take some nice scalps.

2nd Lets Do It Big Boy       RNP Stables          Pennington F

This evergreen seven year old ran the race of his life in the BC and very nearly followed that up with another great win here. He pushed the winner all the way to the line but had to settle for second but it has to be noted that the 3Lbs he was giving the winner was the decisive factor.

3rd Rebel Storm          Fractious             Saez G

Shooting for a fourth straight win in his biggest test to date he did very well from a poor draw to end up a game third. It can always be seen as a success when you claim one for twenty bucks and place third in a grade two stakes race 3 races later so the trainer will be very happy with this result.

4th By The Night O Bay Oval Express Farms Hernandez J J

Went to the front and tried to make all but faded into third at the end. It is funny how some seem to kick on in front and some don’t and maybe although this horse has performed well as a front runner he just needs a little early cover to be at his best. Having said that this was probably his best run to date although as a five year old there may not be too much improvement left.
