Sophomore Fillies Head to the KEE Lawn for Limestone Turf Sprint

4/14/23

   1   KEE   Limestone Turf Sprint

        $250.000          3yoF       5 1/2f  Turf     120lbs

Friday stakes action at KEE and we look at the field for the Limestone Turf Sprint, a five-and-a-half-furlong dash for the 3yo fillies and we get a nice group for this one.  I’m looking for Bogey Free to keep putting up 1’s, as she’s been perfect since Maxmillion Farms plunked down the hefty sum of $5.000 to halter her out of the Fall Auction.  Since then, she’s lights-out, including a nice win at a mile in the China Doll at SA.  I look for more of the same and it will take a huge effort to run her down.  Deaf Luna could be that horse, as she’s run in some big races and always holds her own.  They’ve run her a big longer this season, but I think the distance is right for her and her best would be something to watch.  There are a few others in here that definitely deserve attention, so grab a cold snack and let’s head down to the rail for what is surely going to be a fun race to watch.

Here’s The Field –

1
Skyler White    Riggins Racing    Saez L   120   4/1

Sold privately before that last out fourth in the Cicada at AQU, and she was the post time favorite in that one, flattening out a bit in the late stages.  She’s been on the board in seven of nine, so she can run.

2
   Habitual    Mb Stables    Lopez P   120   6/1

The big barn is always tough and this one got back to the winning way last out, taking down Alw types on a soggy strip at GG.  She was second vs same on a fast track prior and has been close in a number of FL bred stakes, so per usual, watch her.

3
Deaf Luna    Asgar    Gutierrez Mario   120   5/2

Three wins from nine starts, she was third in the BC Juv Turf Sprint (GI) and won a minor stakes at TUP to kick off the year.  Fourth in the FL Oaks (GIII) but I think she bounces back in this one and could be tough to beat.

4
   Bogey Free    Maxmillion Farm    Velazquez J R   120   9/5

Ding, Ding, Ding… nabbed out of the Sep 22 Auction for just $5.000, she’s been perfect for Max since.  Broke maiden at PRX, took down Alw types at HOU then won the China Doll at SA, in her most recent.  This looks like a spot for her to flex her muscles yet again.

5
Mucho Gusta    Ace Racing Stable    Geroux F   120   7/1

Back to back wins coming into this one, and she love the turf sprint action.  She’s never far from a check, may have some odds in this one, and could upset if they don’t pay attention to her.  She will need her best, but I think she’s worth a look.

6
   Lwaxana    Alydar Stables    Gaffalione T   120   7/2

Classy filly looking for her first win of the ’23 season.  She’s been close in a number of races, but only a maiden win, where she got home by eight lengths on a wet PRX lawn.  They shorten her back up looking for a repeat of that race.
