Spinster Looks to Add to the Charo Story, but I like the Sound of Caviar

Spinster – Grade I (P4) [BC]
KEE Race #3 1 1/8m Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $500.00 For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.

1 Charo Team 7 Illusions Landeros C

Claimed for just ten dollars this winner of 13 races from 18 starts looks like one of the claims of the season. After a couple of turf starts the new owner put her to the dirt and she really improved winning both the Fleur De Lis Handicap and the DEL Handicap. In her last start she was a strong second in the grade one Personal Ensign form which when coupled with this draw give her a big winning chance.

2 Nude Beach Aer Stables Bridgmohan

Bought at auction for $111.000 she had run well in a couple of handicaps including a third in the DEL Handicap when beaten by Charo. If the form book means anything she cant turn that form around as she is 3Lbs worse off today but we all know the form book can mean little sometimes against a good draw and an inform trainer. She could easily get closer to Charo today for just those last two reasons but that part of me that wants to believe the form book means something at HRP can’t see her winning.

3 Misty Firefox Crocker Ggs Bejarano R

She too has a bit to find on Charo on her Personal Ensign form when fifth but previously to that had won the grade one Phipps and did of course win the KY Oaks last year so her quality cannot be doubted. She gets a great draw today and if she can get a nice sit just behind the speed may get back to winning ways.

4 Style Cant Spoil Night Rider Stables Maragh Ro

An honest filly she ran well in the Locust Grove last time when a close third but she may find herself a little out of her depth in this solid looking field.

5 Jinxed Queen Smokey Stover Velazquez J

As a three year old this filly won the CCA oaks and the Personal Ensign before a second in this race but like many successful three year olds has found things harder as a four year old. Sold twice this season she had 5 starts for other trainers before going to Smokey Stover and getting a game nose win in the Locust Grove just edging out Style Cant Spoil. If she was anywhere near her three year old form she would be in the mix here and her works suggest she may be ready to do that.

6 Not Bored Now Gdp Inc Lanerie C J

This trainer can pull out some left field winners but i feel that this may be a bit of a stretch. She’s in the field but may struggle to take home a cheque.

7 Fair On Friday Gdp Inc Sanchez M J
This may be the better of the two stable runners atleast on form but again there is nothing to suggest she can win this beyond her trainer being able to find a little extra in these sorts of races.

8 No Signal Mb Stables Gaffalione T

With the more fancied runner from the stable outside her and the trainers record of using a rabbit when it suits their runners it really does look like this one may be used to set some fast fractions. Having said that three sprints with two on turf may just be the sort of ridiculous form to win especially as she is a three year old.

9 Harsh Mb Stables Franco M

Should have her stable mate set this up for her so the draw may not matter. She has 3 lengths to find on Charo on their runs in the DEL Handicap so its hard to see her turning that around but as she is working like a winner and has the possibility of some race tinkering in her favor it wouldnt surprise me to see things go her way.

10 Blue Caviar Waldo Lermyte J

I really like this filly but after being drawn 12 in the Alabama last time she gets another terrible draw for this race. She has either won or been a black booker in all her starts this year and if the rabbit scenario occurs and her trainer can click the right buttons i can see her flying home for the win.

SUMMARY

I am gambling on the rabbit here so i am picking Blue Caviar to spoil the party and finish the fastest of the flying horses at the end. With no rabbit then Charo may be the one.
