Spring Lover Has Bad Post to Overcome in BC Dirt Mile

                            CD Race 9 1M- Dirt
                              Purse $1,000.000
                        Three Year Olds and Up

This race here is another very stacked field of course and it is going to be a very good race I’m sure. There is some very good horses in this field and some of them could’ve been in other races but opted to enter in here. A couple stables have multiple entries also. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Caught Stealing (28-6-5-5 $680.910), trained by Stone Creek Farm

Now this horse is really a surprise to be in this race because he just got smoked in a thirty two dollar claimer last out. Now he did win the grade two Alysheba here at Churchill but that was on an off track. I think this is mainly a shot in the dark just to see if somehow he can get lucky. He is way outclassed.

2. Di Farley (14-5-1-2 $444.100), trained by Gdp Inc

Here is a three year old taking on the older horses here but think that will not matter at all. He won the Super Derby earlier this year and then just ran sixth by a length in the Oklahoma Derby last time. He likes the off going also so that will help him out if it rains. He has a chance to win if he runs a big race.

3. Fox News (12-4-1-2 $871.360), trained by D J C Racing Stables

Right here is a grade one winner this year when he won the grade one Jerkens Memorial this summer at Saratoga. Last out he ran third in the grade one Awesome Again by a length. I think this cut back in distance will benefit him and I think he is ready to run a big race. He has a decent chance.

4. Shootfromthehip (22-8-3-3 $3,619.490), trained by Nakamura Stables

Last years Kentucky Derby over this same track is coming back to try and earn another grade one on the biggest stage at Churchill Downs. The problem with him is that I don’t think that he is as good as he once was and I don’t think he is this quality anymore. But maybe he can find one more big race in him.

5. Tekkers (20-7-1-3 $374.450), trained by Maxmillion Farm

Here is another graded stakes winner in the field and this horse has been running pretty good all year long. He ran fourth last out in the grade one Awesome Again after leading for most of the way that day. He ended up only getting beat by a length and he didn’t run a bad race at all. I think he has an alright shot.

6. Regret Nothing (14-3-3-2 $687.800), trained by Estero Farms

This horse here was pretty good earlier on in the year and especially during the triple crown prep season where he ran so good he made it into the Kentucky Derby. He didn’t run good that day and ever since he only has one good race. He will have to turn around big time to have any chance.

7. Liverpool Rocket (16-3-2-2 $527.440), trained by Estero Farms

Just like his stablemate right to his inside he hasn’t been the same horse that he was since the triple crown prep season. He did run fifth in the Derby but has ran terrible every out since then. He is going to have to absolutely turn his form around dramatically to have any chance to win this race.

8. Gene Chandler (14-6-6-1 $756.800), trained by John Henry

Another horse who ran in this years Derby right here but that was one of his worst days of his career because he ran nineteenth that day. He has been running alright since then but I don’t think he has been running his best since then. He will need to return to his best races to have a chance to win.

9. Performance Artist (12-3-2-2 $467.050), trained by Serenity Stables

Once again a horse who ran in this years Derby and he also ran in the other two triple crown races. He hadn’t been running that good since those races but he did win last out in the Durham Cup beating the horse to his inside. Maybe that gave him some confidence for this race.

10. Blindfold (11-4-1-1 $1,252.020), trained by Mb Stables

Finally coming to one of the Mb Stables runners and this horse has been to the Derby and the Canadian version of the Derby also where he ran second in the Queens Plate. He also ran third in the Haskell earlier this year. I’m not sure the cutback in distance is what he is going to want either.

11. Cat Whisperer (14-6-3-3 $394.340), trained by Onlineracingclub.com

Here is a horse who made it into this race because he won the win and you’re in OBrien Stakes earlier this year at Del Mar. I think he likes seven furlongs better than he likes a mile or longer so I’m not sure this is his preferred distance. He is in this race for a reason though so maybe he will run a big race.

12. In Captivity (18-5-7-2 $929.230), trained by Mb Stables

This horse right here is the second entry from Mb Stables and he has been running pretty good this year so far. He has ran second in two grade ones in his last three starts going six and seven furlongs. He can run a mile but I think he is just kind of unlucky in races. If luck is on his side he has a chance.

13. Made To Sin (26-5-6-2 $1,469.400), trained by John Henry

The second entry from John Henry is a graded stakes winner on the year and he is a pretty good horse when he lays down and runs. Sometimes he runs pretty good and sometimes he runs pretty bad. He ran good last time when he ran second in the Kelso Handicap by half of a length. He might have a chance in here.

14. Spring Lover (28-11-7-2 $3,336.260), trained by Mb Stables

Well definitely the most accomplished horse in the field and I think he could have a great chance to win even though he is way out here on the outside of the field. He got a little prep in an open allowance last race which he won. He is going to be my top pick in this race because I think he’s the best horse in here.

15. The Spaniard (11-4-3-0 $313.370), trained by Big Jd Racing

16. Storming Cobra (14-3-2-1 $241.950), trained by Mo Mentum Farm

Summary

Well this is another good race this weekend but I don’t think it’s one of the toughest either. There isn’t really a standout in here just mainly Spring Lover looks the best of all them but he has a very bad post to overcome. He is my top pick but I’m not very solid on that pick either. Good luck to all in the race.
