–Star Sequence from Team 7 Illusions battled on the front the whole way, then kicked clear around the far turn and held on tenaciously to win the Del Mar Oaks on a blisteringly hot southern California day today. That makes it three straight and three out of four for this quickly improving three year old filly. Congrats to the winning connections. Patronize from DJC Racing Stables sat a tracking fourth most of the way and moved in quickly to grab the runner up spot in a solid effort. Blackbyte from Rock Creek sat back in last the whole trip and then came on strongly to close into the last spot of the trifecta. Good effort and she gave the impression that she can run all day long so it will be interesting to see where she heads to next. Allow from Mb Stables received the heavy support at the windows that we figured she would but the lightly raced miss was unable to seal the deal today and simply got outrun at crunch time in this one. Look for her to rebound quickly.

Of The Rest;

Miss Cherokee Lane from Arindel looked up against it on paper and did well to beat a couple runners home. It will be interesting to see where she shows up next.

Shes So Pretty from High Voltage showed good positional speed and looked to be in the perfect spot most of the way but she tired from chasing and offered little resistance at crunch time.

Perception Plus from Spb Racing ran in spots between calls and also might be looking for a brief rest. This filly has seven starts this year and had eight trips postward as a two year old between April-December. She looked like a tired racehorse today.
