Starlite Run Wins The Santa Monica by a Nose

The Santa Monica Stakes – GII
SA Race 5 7F – Dirt
Purse $250.000
Four Years Olds and Up Fillies and Mares

1st Starlite Run, trained by D J C Racing Stables

A very exciting race for sure in this one and this filly got the win and extended her winning streak to four races in a row. She sat midpack early on and was able to run down all that was in her path late to end up getting the money by a nose. She ran the seven furlongs in 1:22.11 and earned $150.000 for the win.

2nd Eros, trained by Fractious

Well this filly tried to the same exact thing she did in her last out and that was to try and win this race from the lead. It was the same result though as she led all the way throughout the race until the very stages of the race. She ran a very good race and was only beaten by a nose.

3rd Wolfslayer, trained by Maxmillion Farm

Now although this filly here couldn’t repeat her performance from her last start but she still ran a good race. She sat right behind the leader early on and then couldn’t make up the ground to get past her and then was also passed by the winner. She still ran a pretty third though.

4th Coldpack, trained by John Henry

This filly also didn’t run a bad race at all and she was only beaten by three quarters of a length by the winner. She didn’t run a bad race at all and at least got a chunk of the purse. She was midpack early but just couldn’t make up enough ground to really threaten the winner. She didn’t run a bad race at all.

Summary

Well it was a very tight finish in this race for sure with only a nose separating the top two. Starlite Run proved to be the best in this field and has now extended her winning streak to four wins. She may be a filly that is becoming one of the best in this division. Congratulations to Starlite Run and D J C Racing Stables.
