Ten Going for a Spot in BC F&M Sprint in The Princess Rooney Handicap

The Princess Rooney Handicap – GII [BC]
6/29/19
GP Race 5 7F – Dirt
Purse $250.000
Three Year Olds and Up Fillies and Mares

A field of ten filly and mare sprinters are going to be entering the starting gate after a scratch of one that was in the field. They will all be vying for a spot in the Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Sprint if they earn the win. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Too Much Wisdom (18-8-5-0 $653.480), trained by Mb Stables

And here we have the first runner in the field and the first of three entries for Mb Stables. This filly will be cutting back in distance for the first time in a long time as she has been running with the best of the best. I think if she takes to cutback she will pda a decent chance.

2. Diplomatic Chaos (13-7-0-0 $454.880), trained by Winning Link Stables

This next filly here is an all or nothing type as she either gets the win or she doesn’t fire at all. Her last start was a win in the grade three Vagrancy Handicap at Belmont. If she fires her best shot she could be tough in here but she is known to also throw a clunker so it just depends on how she comes into this race.

3. Steel Calling (20-8-4-5 $509.410), trained by Mb Stables

The second of three for Mb Stables right here and this mare is coming into this race off of a third place finish in the grade three Bed o Roses Handicap at Belmont Park. She ran a good race that day but she will have to do better than that to win in this spot.

4. Thalassa (17-3-5-4 $232.730), trained by Maxmillion Farm

The next filly in the field right here is coming into this race off of a fifth place finish in a grade three on the turf. Before that she won the grade three Whimsical at Woodbine with a nice run. She will have to run a race like that to get the job done in here.

5. Sneaky Opus (8-3-0-2 $243.430), trained by Joshua Stables

Scratched

6. Sharp Suit (9-4-2-0 $411.600), trained by Rampage Stable

The only three year old in the field right here and she is coming into this race off of a win in the grade two Eight Belles at Churchill Downs on Oaks day. She is a nice filly and she ran very good that day but this is a big test for sure so she will have to run a huge race.

7. Lives To Dream (15-4-6-2 $127.570), trained by Joshua Stables

Next runner in the field right here and this filly is coming into this race off of a third place finish in a wide open allowance at Parx. She has been down in the lower levels and is making a jump up in class in this spot. I’m not sure she is ready for this competition yet though.

8. Seydoux (16-5-4-1 $302.600), trained by Smokey Stover

And now this filly right here is entering this race off of a second place finish in the grade three Desert Stormer at Santa Anita. She ran good in that spot in which she cut back to a sprint. I think she likes sprinting but she needs to run a huge race to get the job done.

9. Symphonic (16-3-6-1 $321.460), trained by Team 7 Illusions

A Florida bred right here and she is coming off of a big win in a statebred optional claimer where she won by four lengths and cruised to a victory. She is making a big jump up in class in this race though so she will have to run a huge race to get the win here.

10. Indian River Queen (21-4-7-3 $472.240), trained by South Beach Racing

Next to last runner that we come across right here and she is entering this race off of a ninth place finish in the grade one Phipps. She seems to like sprinting a whole lot better and she did win the grade three Hurricane Bertie. I think she might have a chance in here.

11. Oyster Puff (28-9-7-3 $636.150), trained by Mb Stables

The final of three for Mb Stables right here and this filly is making a cutback in distance after a tenth place finish in the grade one Phipps. She won the grade two Ruffian Handicap before that. She ran a good race there and she will have to run a race like that to win here.

Summary

Almost a full field for this race here and they will all be trying to earn a free spot into the Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Sprint. My top pick is going to be Indian River Queen but I can see a couple other runners winning for sure. Good luck to all in the field.
