Tenrikyo Goes to the Top of the Female Tree in La Troienne

La Troienne – Grade I
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $750.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st      Tenrikyo       Smokey Stover      Jaramillo E

Well of the big three only Naples didn’t turn up to the party but the other two did and we were left with some familiar names in the top two as usual. These fillies all seem to takes turns in winning and the last twice this one has prevailed so it looks like onward she will go to no doubt more showdowns towards the BC. The pace was pretty average and she sat in her preferred midfield position gong nicely until she took the opportunity to quicken up and get home by just under a length. The stable is going great guns at the moment and this mare despite being six is riding that wave.

2nd     Fashionable      Mb Stables        Hernandez C J

I think we can safely say now that the Pegasus was a freak race because as she led through the six furlongs today in a clear lead and going over two seconds slower than she did in the Pegasus it looked like she would never be caught. Today however things looked more familiar as she hit the wall in the final furlong and got run down. This is a top class mare and she will no doubt swap placings with Tenrikyo a few times before the BC but for now at least she is second best.

3rd       Shes A Super Freak       YME Stable         Chirinos R

Considering the two in front of her are two of the top females this year i think she ran a great race considering she is at the disadvantage of being a four year old in the first part of the year. A good few of this age group seem to get a maturity boost in the second part of the season so i feel that she out of this top three may be the hardest one to beat when November comes.

4th    Belmont Strong       TwinTowersRacing        Saez G

She may have been outclassed by the top three but she beat some good ones home for fourth and i am sure the trainer wont be disappointed. Again as a four year old there will be some improvement to come but i am not sure she will be destined for the top but look out for her if she drops down to those lower graded stakes races.
