Affirmed Success Looks a Tough Call

4/20 Affirmed Success
BEL Race #2 6f Dirt Stake
Purse $100.000 For Four Year Olds And Upward Foaled In NY.

1 Di Terra The Sidley Stud Alvarado J

The stable had a slow start to the year but is picking up now and this horse who has only won one race from 22 starts is nowhere an outclassed one race winner. The fact that in almost half his starts he has placed second just shows you how close he has been to a good horse and i do feel that with this draw today he should again be in the mix at the end. Lightly tried this year after two busy seasons his last start may have freshened him up enough to give him a shot at glory for only the second time in his career.

2 Gettysburg Night Rider Stables Lezcano J

A lightly raced sort he gets the best draw in the race today and also comes from a stable that is warming up nicely. A fair sort at statebred level he looks to have improved this year and recorded a nippy 5 furlong work at BEL and a decent seasonal debut win suggesting he will be a force to be reckoned with here.

3 Hide The Lemon Ace Racing Stable Cancel E

Jumps into a nice gate but has to carry a penalty for his win in the CC Emerald which has proven a bit too tough in his last two starts. He tries a new trip today coupled with his recent switch from the turf so anything could happen.

4 Man In Black Angelos Stable Franco M

Another one without too many starts under his belt for a four year old he got very close to winning the Hughes over this trip and had Creep City behind him so must be given a fair chance.

5 Hidden Scroll Angelos Stable Castellano J

Consistent at claiming level he of course is working pretty much the same as all the other clones so whilst on paper he would have no chance here at HRP with very little class system in place he wont be out of it. His win at claiming level over this trip was faster than any of the others have run in a race so why not !

6 Creep City Alydar Stables Ortiz J L

Bought for $250 after some huge runs as a four year old he has been largely disappointing since despite the fact, yes you guessed it, he is working the same as everything else. He certainly has the ability and the class to win but this race is so close that he will need the best trip to win it.

7 Cash Deposit Fractious Davis D

Yes another one that is working just as well as all of his fellow clones he has done well since making the step up from overnights but then pays for that with a 2Lb penalty. He did well under the same impost to run a close second in the Thomas Memorial last time so can make it work but he will need some luck from this draw.

8 Kris Kross Chili King Stables Carmouche

Most of his recent success has come at longer trips but he stepped back last time to seven furlongs and won so its not outside the realms of possibility that he cant do it again. He is faster than a router should be on the gallops so he could just surprise a few here.

9 Special Project D J C Racing Stables Luzzi M J

Yes you guessed it he is working the same as everything else, has form at this level and wouldn’t be out of this. The draw of course would be against him and the fact that he hasn’t won for well over a year but silly things like that don’t always give us the answers.

SUMMARY

9 clones on the training grounds they all have enough form to win this so its really is a stick your pin in sort of race like so many are these days. I am going for Hidden Scroll for no other reason than he works the same as everything else but has proved on the racetrack he can run a race quicker albeit at a lower level. Having said that it really is anyone’s race and i would imagine i will talking about heads and noses when i do the recap.
