Breeders Stakes Has All the Ingredients of an Intriguing Race

Breeders Stakes
WO Race #2 1 1/2m Turf Stake
Purse $400.000 For Three Year Olds Foaled In Canada.

1 Appreciate Mo Mentum Farm Gutierrez Mario

13th of 14 in the Queens Plate on the dirt he went back to his favored surface to run a close up fifth in the National Museum Of Racing and then a running on seventh in the Secretariat Stakes. There is no doubt this gelding who was bred by the owner is better at this level on the turf but the big question is can he overcome the big guns in this race. He has the draw and the jockey to do it and to be honest there is very little depth in this race for a contest with such a big purse. His works are good enough so he will no doubt be a contender for the sixteen year game veteran.

2 Money Truck Spankys Barn Van Dyke D

The big advantage for this one apart from the nice draw is the fact that he has won over this trip albeit in lower grade. His works are telling a better story than his form which is always a worry but he is lightly raced and entitled to some quick improvement if his curve is ready to take an upturn. He didn’t run too badly in the DMR Derby last time although he never really got into the race but it could be he needs an extreme trip to bring out the best in him.

3 Pirate Pack Nakamura Stables Ryan S

He was behind Appreciate in the National Museum of Racing so it is hard to see him turning the tables on that unless his trainer can come up with a plan to do so. He has been up on the pace in most of his races which has brought him success at lower levels but i just wonder whether Nakamura will seek to change his running style in an effort to see out this trip at this level. Going back to his juvenile days he was better on an off track and ridden from behind so if those two things happen then just maybe he can get another big win for the trainer.

4 Steed Maxmillion Farm Garcia Mar

What can i say, the turf king with a horse recently bought for ten bucks that hasn’t got the form to trouble these…sounds like a dead cert winner to me!! He won his maiden on the dirt at the start of the year but after a light campaign was tried on turf last time and ran well enough. The only reason this one can win is the fact the trainer has won so many of these types of races with horses that couldn’t win that it is almost a story that has already been written.

5 Vengeful Mb Stables Tunon M

The turf jockey of the year with the trainer of the decade in a race with little or no worthwhile outstanding form looks like an easy choice to me. Outclassed in the SAR Derby last time his form before that was no worse than the best of these and his works are certainly saying that with all his other benefits he should win this by a nose or two.

6 Hollywood Dump Night Rider Stables Wilson E J

The trainer has picked up a few nice claims this year and there is certainly no reason why this wont be another one. A game winner on the dirt last time in a WO Allowance his turf works are pretty good so there is no reason he wont be competitive on this surface. The wide draw may be a worry but he recorded the fastest recent speed figure in the field in his last run and has won half his races on turf. A smokey for sure.

SUMMARY

The head says take Vengeful to win as he has so much going for him. But every time i see one that looks like it should win in these types of races one seems to pop up from nowhere to beat them, Hollywood Dump is just the sort to achieve that and Appreciate should get a cosy run from his draw so they could be the danger and how could i not tip the Turf Kings entry that of course has no chance so will probably win!
