Purse $150.000  For Fillies Two Years Old Foaled In CA.

1 Eshreal, trained by Sarah Stables

Ran a fair debut to be fifth in a LAD maiden but stepped up on that like a good filly when taking a big pursed DMR maiden last out. She travelled well over this course and distance and won fairly comfortably by a length. She has worked pretty strongly so deserves all sorts of respect especially as she hails from one of the best trainers on the site.

2 Moemuras Promise, trained by Royalty Racing

This is a very interesting filly when you match her with Eshreal. She also ran a decent debut when 3rd at PLN and also came out last time to win one of those big pursed DMR maidens over this same course and distance and in the same time as Eshreal. So theoretically she is the same filly as the Sarah Stables filly on race form as she won by having almost identical splits. You must just make your choice between them.

3 Above Storage, trained by Hay Makers Inc

Just to make things interesting this one won yet another DMR maiden over this trip but managed to do so a fair bit slower than the first two fillies. So all straight lines suggest this one cannot beat the one and the two but HRP has been made up of plenty of curved lines recently so never say never.

4 Pink Stars, trained by Team 7 Illusions

A debut winner at the fair level she has had two goes at Stakes level beaten both times but running pretty well. Her last start saw her beaten less than a length in the CTBA Stakes on this course running on nicely late. She has been working well and I expect her to run well but she may find one or two too good.

5 Morgan Le Fay, trained by Paradise Stable

Probably the class horse of the race she took the Debutante last time out coming with a strong late win to win nicely by just under a length. She ran once a month from April winning two but hasn’t seen the track since the end of June and that may just leave her a little short. A recent track work suggests that fact so although she may be the best filly in this race I may look elsewhere for a value bet.

6 Angry Curator, trained by Sarah Stables

The second stable entry she was closing hard in the CTBA on this track finishing just behind Pink Stars in seventh and though she demands respect for that effort she may do well to confirm that sort of run today. I do like the way she has finished off both her five and a half furlong races so I expect her to be hitting the line strongly it just remains to be seen as to whether she can get the timing spot on.

7 Freedom Flying, trained by Mb Stables

Took a decent maiden on debut at LA and then ran a cracker in the mud in the grade three Schuylerville to be a late finishing fourth. She was beaten three lengths but may not have been suited by the wet track so it may turn out to be a better run than it looked. The outside draw is a worry but her running style suggests it may be OK if she can shake the shackles of the outside speed push.

SUMMARY

For me this race is between Freedom Flying, Eshreal and Moemuras promise. I think Freedom Flying may have the class edge but the outside gate is a worry that may keep my betting dollars in my pocket.
