The Old Man Mean Street Wins The Thunder Road

The Thunder Road – GIII
SA Race 7 1M – Turf
Purse $100.000
Four Year Olds and Up

1st Mean Street, trained by Nakamura Stables

The old grandpa of the race showed these youngins what was up as he drew clear late to win this edition of the Thunder Road. He sat right off the pace early on and then went past the top couple late to edge clear by a neck in the final stages. He ran the mile in 1:32.66 and earned $60.000 for the win.

2nd Block Message, trained by Tiratzo

This horse here also ran a very good race to only get beat by a margin of a neck. He was pretty far back early on and then came with a pretty nice rally from far back to get up for the second place finish. He was only bested by a neck and with a couple more yards he probably would have won.

3rd Dogs Noah, Maxmillion Farm

This horse also ran pretty good race to get up for the third place finish. He was near midpack towards the beginning and then slowly moved closer. He tried to rally to the lead but he just could not. He only got beat by a length though so he ran a very good race.

4th Controlled Power, trained by Spankys Barn

Well my top pick of the race didn’t win but he didn’t run that bad of a race either. He was right behind the leader in the early stages and he even hit the lead for a minute until getting passed by the top three. All that happened was the he hit the lead too early and should’ve held off until closer to the line.

Summary

This was pretty good race and it was a close finish so that it made it pretty exciting to watch. Mean Street ran a very good race and showed that even at his age he can still get the job done in a big race. He ran a very good race and ran pretty quick also. Congratulations to Mean Street and Nakamura Stables.
