The Rampart Goes the Way of Smokey Stover

The Rampart – Grade III
1 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $100.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Kalaeloa Smokey Stover Lopez P

There is rarely a time when a horse goes off odds on favorite at HRP and then actually wins like an odds on favorite should. Today however this filly achieved exactly that with a facile win which never looked in doubt. Stalking through the first half of the race she took it up and cantered clear to win by three lengths. This was a deserved graded stakes win for this daughter of Good Authority who now must go into the tough four year old season but atleast gets this success behind her.

2nd Moon Splash D J C Racing Stables Jaramillo E

Stayed on well for second but never got a sniff at the winner. I think this is just about her mark at the moment, she is a consistent sort and could still grow and improve as she is only 15.2hh at this time.

3rd Truly Deeply Madly Jive Inc. Corrales G

Tried to track the winner but was pretty easily brushed aside in the end. A decent effort for a four year old against the three’s but lets face it she didnt stand a chance at this level from Jan 1st 2019.

4th Pennies Arindel Zayas E J

A little disappointing, this run had the look of a filly who could probably do with a rest after a busy and challenging season.
