Well, the complexion of this changed dramatically with the scratch of Gobekli Tepe, and our handicapping efforts went out the window with the exception of nailing the odds of John Henry’s Sweet Catomine.  Sent off at 8/1 odds, the black filly used her tactical speed to track the pace moved up to take command and hung on late to take The Sugar Swill (GIII) by a head in a final time of 1:09.41 for the six furlongs.  Glistening used a hard closing effort to secure the second spot and Crush Szyra was a neck back in third in a race that saw the entire field land on the wire within a length of each other.

The field of eight got away in good order with Ginger Nightshade showing speed from the outside, Hollywood Short, Dragon Wagon and Sweet Catomine next to her, a length back to Glistening, Crush Szyra on her flank, then another length and a half back to Immortal Steel and Unprecedented was the early trailer.

Nearing the far turn and they had three and a furlongs to run, Ginger Nightshade continued to show the way by a length.  Dragon Wagon on her inside and Sweet Catomine along the rail.  Hollywood Short on her flank and Glistening between that pair.  It was a gap of three back to Crush Szyra, Immortal Steel a length behind that one and Unprecedented continued to lag.

Around the turn and into the lane, this one was changing quickly.  Sweet Catomine cut the corner with emphasis and was now in front by a half length.  A line of three were giving chase with Dragon Wagon, Hollywood Short out wide and Ginger Nightshade between horses.  Another length and the trio of Glistening, Crush Szyra and Immortal Steel were trying to get going, and Unprecedented had a to of work to do.

Deep stretch and to the wire, Sweet Catomine with the lead, and now they were lining up coming after her… Glistening, Crush Szyra and now Immortal Steel coming on… and as they went under the wire it was Sweet Catomine by a head, Glistening just missing in a game effort and a neck back to Crush Szyra in third, a nose in front of Immortal Steel.  Hollywood Short was fifth, Unprecedented in sixth, Ginger Nightshade tiring to seventh, as did Dragon Wagon, closing this one out.
