The Sidley Stud Brings Top Pair to Chorleywood Stakes at CD

                                         Chorleywood Stakes

1  3/8 Miles Turf Stake Purse $225.00 Four-Year-Olds. At CD

Chorleywood Stakes is going to be a fun race. It’s only been around for a few years, so not much history other than Night Rider Stables won the first two editions of the race and he’s back with another try with Bold Quinn, and The Sidley Stud won the other edition, and they are here with the likely top two choices Great Vault and Freaky Obra Party. I’m keenly interested in the performance of Winning Link Stables’ Quick Revive which I expect big things from soon. Here’s the field:

Horse                                  Owner                               Odds  SRF

Great Vault                         The Sidley Stud                 *5-2        97

Freaky Obra Party              The Sidley Stud                  3-1        89

Quick Revive                        Winning Link Stables          6-1        95

Scorched                            Mb Stables                          5-1        97

Convincing                         The Sidley Stud                  8-1        96

Sound Of Sins                    Langley Farms                  10-1        95

Bold Quinn                         Night Rider Stables           12-1        90

Bold Quinn              Night Rider Stables             90

Night Rider Stables picked up the very lightly raced Bold Quinn at auction for $7.01 from Mb Stables and has been trying him in all sorts of distances, surfaces and prices with him. This is an interesting jump and I, for one, will be watching with interest. His six-furlong turf works have been improving, but I sure would have liked to have seen a more recent one-mile turf work.

Convincing                       Diablo Diablo            95

Convincing has had plenty of time to think about marathons but never has taken the plunge. Well, he’s in great route form right now, so his connections have him dipping a hoof in the deep end to see if now the plunge.

3   Great Vault                The Sidley Stud                          94

At seven years old, Great Vault doesn’t seem to have slowed down much, especially in marathons. After finishing a big-time second in the BC Turf, he had trouble with the 1 1/8 miles of the Grade I Pegasus World Cup Turf but came right back as soon as the routes returned to marathon distances in the Grade III San Luis Rey Stakes and the Grade II Elkhorn.

4   Freaky Obra Party                    The Sidley Stud                    96

Freaky Obra Party doesn’t seem to mind much the route and has back-to-back seconds in $200.00 races, the 1 1/2 mile Marathon at CD and SUN Stakes at 1 1/8 miles. Freaky Obra Party has been a stakes find for The Sidley Stud since they picked him up at auction from Martyparty for $5.17 in December.

5   Scorched            Mb Stables                      97

Mb Stables has been bringing Scorched along slowly and only recently brought into turf racing and now is exploring marathon distances. His recent development at route distances is promising enough to make me wary of another Mb scene stealer.

6   Sound Of Sins             Langley Farms                 88

Sound Of Sins is another of those horses that sold too low too young, thus never really giving him the chance to reach his stakes potential. I hope he can show enough of his true potential here to make him too valuable to drop down, after all, from Langley Farms’ basic point of view, he’s a $7.50 horse.

7   Quick Revive                      Winning Link Stables                95

Quick Revive is not the train wreck he appears to be. He should never have been a $5.00 claim. He was a smart claim for $40.00 from Mb Stables back in March 25 and would have been a much better racehorse with proper placement. That final placement in the $5.00 claimer by Sim Speed Stable looked to be a dispersal by a player who has lost interest in the game. This lightly raced four-year-old has hit the board eleven of thirteen, and now that he’s in good hands, expect a lot of stakes success.
