The Sniper Laughs at the Rabbit in Muniz Memorial Handicap

Muniz Memorial Handicap – Grade II
1 1/8 Mile Turf Stake Purse $300.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st The Laffin Sniper Diablo Diablo Baze T C

With 5 lengths from first to ninth it makes a few pounds in these handicaps enough to make the difference. Mix that with a great late and wide run from well behind on a crazy fast rabbit induced pace and we get one of those winners that leaves you scratching your head. Beaten a total of 27 lengths in his last five starts he was terrible last time out in allowance company but put that all behind him today. Is this a return to his best or just one of those results that happens when a rabbit screws the race engine? Well he has shown ability in the past albeit a while ago and his trainer will be hoping that this signals the start of a return to that. Whether it is or it isnt Diablo Dialo would have had a great thrill by this huge late run from off the screen.

2nd Seminole On The Map Racing Velazquez J R

My tip for the race he ran a cracker and as he made ground from a wide trip on the turn and i thought he may just nab the win. Hitting the front he couldnt hold the last charger in The Laffin Sniper but ran the sort of race that we have got used to when he has raced on the dirt. Once again HRP shows us that a good horse can act on turf or dirt not so much like our real life counterpart but it makes these handicaps pretty interesting.

3rd Siberian Prince Sir Daniel Martin Ortiz I Jr

As this former juvenile champion got a dream run up the rail i really thought he was going to run away with this but his effort petered out and he just kept on for third. He has proved that he is still competitive and should find a race like this before the end of the season.

4th Cannon Maxmillion Farm Beschizza A

Whilst the stable mate went off as the rabbit he was taken well back to come late and beat all the stalkers and mid packers.Even though he made good ground and was only beaten a length in the end he never looked like getting better than fourth which i think is about the best he could hope for.
