This is one of these proper HRP specials. After 14 runs looking pretty mediocre and winning just two he has in the space of 3 months gone from a beaten optional claimer to a dual stakes winner. He has done it tough both times from a wide draw and i must admit looking at his last two wins i would have to put him firmly in the BC Mile picture now which would have been laughed off the page at the start of the year. Congratulations to the trainer for not only beating a three year old but having his hands on a very promising miler.

2nd Midnight Special Allinthegate Desormeaux K J

Even with just the one three year old that was drawn wide and had never run on the turf you did not expect him to finish outside the first three and sure enough he didn’t. Safely held by the winners flying finish he kept on well for second and looks a promising type now he has switched surfaces.

3rd Goldbracletparade Hunterman Stable Van Dyke D

The five year old came from the clouds for third and i must admit ran much better than i expected. I am not sure there is much improvement in him but he is a tough old nut and it was good to see him run a big race at this level.

4th Nice Dive Threshold Fuentes Ru

Ran a brave race after being wide for a long way, he keeps being competitive into his sixth year and is another tough old boy.
