The Waya May See Sidley Stud with an Anomoly

The Waya – Grade III
SAR Race #6 1 1/2m InTurf Graded Stake
Purse $150.000 For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward.

1 Number Nine Spankys Barn Franco M

After a second in the grade one Beverly D last year and also in the grade one Taylor her start to this year was a little typical of how four year olds can struggle as they lose the weight allowance. After three poor runs she has started to come back to herself and was huge in her last start when making all for a seven length win in the River Memories. Its true that wasn’t a very strong race but it may have done her confidence enough good to put her back on song.

2 Speedy Ginger The Sidley Stud Velazquez J

Very consistent in ungraded stakes this year she finished second three times before finally getting a good win in the Keertana over this trip. Now i am treating that form with a little trepidation as it was her first ever run on turf and sometimes at HRP that can seem to give them a boost. Next time out however she performed well enough in the San Capistrano to suggest she could have a chance here from the perfect draw.
3 No Signal Mb Stables Beschizza A

Mb never puts a horse in a race with no chance so he must think a lot of this four year old who is put in here with a 2Lb penalty, an impost that is usually the kiss of death. She proved that this is her trip with a win in the Santa Barbara Stakes in May and then ran pretty well in the NY. Forget her last start in the DEL handicap when the race engine beat her. She is a strong worker who loves the trip but it will be hard to give the weight to her rivals.

4 Red Lucy The Sidley Stud Tunon M

The trainer used the change of surface glitch to get Speedy Ginger home in a stakes race and now tries with this filly and gets the very able assistance of the turf jockey of the moment in M Tunon. A stakes winner on the dirt she will get the trip and i rather think the first turf start may be the difference in an even field.

5 Smart Queen Night Rider Stables Rosario J

This may be the form choice on her excellent second in the NY. She is a real tough six year old with plenty of experience and that can be a real plus in these long distance races. She had the pace to win at a mile in 1.33 and change and is working very nicely.

6 Quest For Fame Rheingold Stables Gaffalione T

Lets just say if it is wet then the next two horses will fight out the finish. This one went from a five furlong turf claimer to a grade three winner over 12 furlongs in just four months but has been off the track for a while now and may just need this run. She is certainly better over these longer trips and is a real wet tracker so her trainer will be doing a rain dance in the morning.

7 Chai Mission Maxmillion Farm Davis D

This is another that grows a leg in the wet but she has show enough on a dry track to give her a chance too. A big chance if it rains i can just see her slopping home wide from the back whereas if it is dry she may just get catapulted to the front by the race engine and weaken late.

SUMMARY

Well this race is very weather dependent If its wet then Chai Mission and Quest For Fame may fight it out. If its dry then i would expect Smart Queen and Red Lucy to fight it out. So i will gamble with the sun and go for the good old HRP anomaly that will see Red Lucy having her 20th start and first on turf to win at long odds.
