Who Will Take Yellow Ribbon Handicap as Just Six Go to the Gate?

Yellow Ribbon Handicap – Grade II
DMR Race #7 1 1/16m Turf Graded Stake
Purse $150.000 For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.

1 Nancy Broom Moytoy Smokey Stover Cedillo A 119

This race sets up quite nicely for this daughter of Cherokee Sunset getting in with joint bottom weight despite being a dual grade one winner. There are plenty of positives with Smokey Stover at the wheel and the ace draw with the only slight question mark being her enthusiasm as it has been a while since she has really shown her best.

2 Fixes Maxmillion Farm Pereira T J 119

The turf king gets a great draw for his five year old who looks set to race close to the pace and is weighted well enough to have a real chance. She got stuck in a bit of a rut before her last start in the Possibly Perfect Stakes where she made all for a game win. She hasn’t really shown her best yet so today may be the day.

4 Delinquent Assembly Nakamura Stables Fuentes Ru 120

The trainer has had plenty of success this year and i rather like this filly to get back to winning ways today. Consistent in lesser grade last year she won a little stakes race by open air at the end of last year and came back as a four year old backing it up with a win in the grade three Endeavor. A wide draw ended her chances in the Santa Ana but she came back to her best when a close fifth in the CD Distaff Turf Mile next out. Her last start was probably her career best run when she battled bravely from a wide gate to be third in the grade one Just A Game. A better draw and the Nak factor today and she will have plenty of supporters.

5 Fomalhaut John Henry Gutierrez Mario 121

Joint top weight for this six year old and she certainly deserves it on her good efforts throughout her career. In the money in 25 starts she ran a great race from a wide gate in the grade one Gamely in May when only beaten a half length. Third in the Wishful last time my only concern for her are her works which seem to be slowing a little.

6 High Ended Fractious Prat F 121

She comes in a little under the punters radar but the handicapper has not missed her and she gets joint top weight for her efforts this year. She was immense in the Buena Vista on a wet track in February and she may need the rain again as this trip is just a little on the short side for her. A good chance and some good works put her right in the mix.

7 La Marine Ancienne Mo Mentum Farm Velez J I 119

The draw and the handicapper are not helping her today and whilst she has shown some good form most notably when third in the Matchmaker last time she is certainly the filly with the most to prove today. She can run a race but its hard to give her a winning chance.

SUMMARY

A race where there wont be much in it as usual so much will depend on pace and weather. With rain i think High Ended could win but a slower pace could suit Delinquent Assembly or Fixes. With 6 pretty much equal chances i think i may go with the stable in form in Smokey Stover and his filly trying to recapture her best.
