There’s a Sense of Acceptance as There’s a Furious Start to the BC

BC Juvenile Turf – Grade I
1 Mile Turf Stake Purse $1,000.000 Colt & Gelding 2 Year Olds.

1st Furious

Mb Stables

Lezcano J

The early signs are pretty ominous for the rest of the owners at HRP as once again Mb Stables has had a powerful start to the Breeders Cup. This one was gelded after three pretty average efforts in good maidens and that seemed to have a big effect on the horse as he came out and won a big ticket maiden next out by a pretty easy two lengths. He was stepped up in trip in the Summer Stakes and was beaten by stable mate Evergreen by a nose but the draws were reversed today and that was enough to see him getting his revenge. There is no doubt that with just a few lengths covering most of the field that there were hard luck stories but that wasn’t the case with this one who may have got himself in trouble by dropping into the pack early on but he had a good enough turn of foot to find his way the perfect run to take the race by a half length.

He is beautifully made and still only 15.1 hh so you would think there is plenty more to come if he grows a bit between two and three.

2nd Extremo

Acber Farms

Stein J

Some get the right draw at the right time but this seems to be one of these that always ends up with a tricky draw. He finished right upsides the winner in the Summer Stakes last time flying home from his wide draw to finish third beaten just a nose by the Mb pair. Once again drawn wide history repeated itself as he went way back and flew home this time a half length behind the winner. It will be interesting if he ever gets a decent draw but nevertheless the owner will be very proud of his effort today.

3rd Dream State

Mb Stables

Garcia Mar

Never far off the pace he closed up nicely just after halfway and started to look a real win chance but as the whips came out he flattened out a bit and in the end fought hard to hold third but was easily out finished by the first two. This was a big step up again for this one and either this race wasn’t any different to a GG one win allowance or he is improving.

4th Marty McFly

Greeko Holdem

Franco G

Went forward from the wide draw but that effort told late and he couldn’t find any more down the stretch. This was a bold decision by the owner to click the tab and send him forward from the wide draw but he had come up short several times from the other click on the tab so it was a gamble that seemed worth taking. Whilst he didn’t win he gave the owner a great thrill and still took home a pay check.

The rest

With not more than a length covering the next 8 home it was the usual story with plenty that will think they can do better next time and probably will. The front runner Pollards Vision ran tenth in the end but that was pretty predictable with the current race engine and a pretty solid pace, i am sure the Pilgrim winner will be back to fight another day. The favorite Evergreen was in a good enough position but was forced wide by his stable companion and found disappointingly little at the end. There was plenty of hard luck stories but i felt Invalidate and Spankersville looked to be closing well before they hit a wall of horses and those that went onto the pace saw an above average pace which put paid to most of their challenges.
